Not bad, but not sure I want to deal with fixed camera angles. I’m sure switching between them won’t be smooth.

Hey it’s that or leaving your home to watch at a Sports bar.

Come to think of it a bar isn’t that bad of an idea either. :-)

I had the most interesting chat over at MMO today. Haven’t had one quit like that in some time.

is this just a teaser or are you going to elaborate?

sorry TX, sure basically I tried to point an that in article the Times did back in 2004 they quoted Minaya who was then the asst GM for Mets on the day he got the call from then scout Eddy Toledo that he discovered this kid named Jose Reyes and he wanted to sign him but Reyes was asking for a sum that required Toledo to seek approval from Minaya to sign him.

The point being that even though Phillips is credited for signing Reyes the reality is that it was Minaya’s call to sign Reyes or not.

That somehow got twisted into me being eventually a Minaya hater and that I was trying to give all the credit solely to Minaya.

It was very very interesting to say the least.

That should of read Phillips hater sorry.

I went over there and read it. I chuckled. I love the guy as a Phillips disciple. He slayed me with laughter. I do have to admit he did bring in some top line talent, but he flubbed it up a bunch as well and, well, there’s the whole intern thing.

The funny thing is I have nothing against Phillips as a GM all I wanted to do was share what I felt was an interesting back story into how the Reyes signing actually broke down and the whole structure of how a MLB team delegates responsibilities throughout an organization.

I went over and read that. Certainly a fair amount of scope creep going on.

I think GMs are like presidents. You have to take a high level look at what they did, since you can’t totally judge on results on their watch due to lag time.

That is, any GM’s team (unless you stay for 10 years +) is going to be built on the prior guys players (drafts), and all the good draft picks and IFA signings probably peak with the next GM.

Who knows, a bunch of Omar draft picks and IFA signings might join a couple of Philips holdovers to give Alderson credit for winning a couple of WS!

Rangers fans might not be quite so happy with having paid the $10!

gee, what is the impact on the Lee meter? Did he cost a few million that he had gained against the yankees?

I don’t think the Giants got the memo on how bad their offense sux.

On another note, I’m reading that Takahashi switched agents late this afternoon. Interesting…..

giving the timing with him, hard to see that not sharply decreasing the likelihood of him returning. Not that big of a deal though. Yeah, it would be nice to have him, but if not, they will find someone else.

According to Adam Rubin of ESPN New York, Tellem represents several Japanase players, including Hideki Matsui.

This past weekend, David Waldstein of the New York Times said both the Mets and the agents for Takahashi were in the process of negotiating a new contract, but in a post to Twitter, David Lennon of Newsday writes “Switching to Tellum is probably not a good sign for the future with the Mets.”

    fyi:

    Tom Tuttle (Tacoma)

Have you seen any of the Mets prospects in AZ? Did they send any of their young Savannah pitchers (Moore, Cohoon, Rodriguez, etc.)?

    Klaw (2:31 PM)

Nope, they’re not here. Holt was very mediocre. Nieuwenhuis looks like a very good 4th outfielder. Valdespin is interesting but young, looks like his body has a ways to go and he’s kind of crude at the plate. Satin and Niesen are just filling rosters. I’m forgetting another name.

    1. stickguy

what exactly does a very good 4th OF mean? And at what, 22 YO, and just playing a couple months at AAA he certainly should have room to actually get better.

    2. TRS86

Same ole same ole. We shall see what happens. I think some of these guys have a much higher ceiling than that.
