Nice try but, I didn’t even attempt it. Don’t get how to post tweets.
“Melvin will not be #Mets‘ next manager. All signs point toward Collins. Not yet confirmed”
*bud, not but.
11/21/2010-5:06pm at 5:06 pm (UTC -4)
I did everything like mrmj said but i keep screwin up
11/21/2010-5:07pm at 5:07 pm (UTC -4)
As I said, I wouldn’t even attempt it. No idea. Maybe just edit it with the words for now?
11/21/2010-5:10pm at 5:10 pm (UTC -4)
when u see it in html mode is this
in the code?
11/21/2010-5:13pm at 5:13 pm (UTC -4)
Also rusty you shouldn’t publish anything until you preview it 1st. that way u can play and fix it b4 it gets out there.
11/21/2010-5:28pm at 5:28 pm (UTC -4)
Man I baked it – I made sure it was in HTML & I did check it but all the code was there – I wish I knew what I was doing wrong
11/21/2010-5:30pm at 5:30 pm (UTC -4)
if u r certain that u r in html and u r certain that u r not switchin to visual mode at all at any time then its that u r not copying the entire code from blackbird.

Not my first choice, but thankfully not Melvin. Was hoping for Hale.
we will have to support him

Well, if this is true, it is the best choice after Backman; maybe the best choice period considering the nature of this group of players.
I hope Collins immediately lets everyone know that pregame will be time to actually prepare, not blast stereos and play cards—at least until they start winning.
I sincerely look forward to a serious disciplinarian, as that is what this weak, soft, lazy group needed the most, and if it is not Backman, Collins is fine with me.
Also, it shows that Alderson understands the nature of this crew, and is eager to impose some toughness and discipline on it.
Will have a big-gulp sized Tanqueray TERRY Collins in his honor.
11/21/2010-5:25pm at 5:25 pm (UTC -4)
I hope Collins can take a hint from Tom Coughlin, and work on his own level of roughness to produce a superior product.
11/21/2010-5:29pm at 5:29 pm (UTC -4)
well, it may be a short tenure, but I expect the FO knows this and doesn’t mind.
11/21/2010-5:33pm at 5:33 pm (UTC -4)
Grave made a very interesting suggestion, that Collins may be here for 1-2 years to whip this group into shape as the kids develop, and then Backman/Teufel/Carter/Oberkfell comes in for the title and the long run.
I hope Collins runs a frigin boot camp and Jose is too damn tired to dance.
Showalter/Torre part 2?
11/21/2010-5:41pm at 5:41 pm (UTC -4)
As long as Collins’ replacement isn’t Torre and we win a title, it works for me!
Those Jets of yours are really fun to watch….
Mets.com reporting this also…
11/21/2010-5:38pm at 5:38 pm (UTC -4)
Btw we got a metsblog bump earlier today
Screw the bump. I don’t care about that.
11/21/2010-5:40pm at 5:40 pm (UTC -4)
Baron chooses Dallas Green—which beautifully once again demonstrates his serious lack of knowledge.
11/21/2010-5:42pm at 5:42 pm (UTC -4)
nice rusty congrats
And this from Metsblog:
The Daily News says Bob Melvin will be the team’s bench coach, and Chip Hale will remain as the team’s third-base coach.
11/21/2010-5:43pm at 5:43 pm (UTC -4)
Braintrust in the front office, braintrust in the dugout.
11/21/2010-5:45pm at 5:45 pm (UTC -4)
“Chip Hale played for me. I think the world of Chip,” Collins said.
11/21/2010-5:48pm at 5:48 pm (UTC -4)
No one else reporting this though.
11/21/2010-6:29pm at 6:29 pm (UTC -4)
So my joking yesterday that they would hire all 4 may be 3/4 correct. If true does that leave Wally currently listening to Thorogood’s “I Drink Alone” ?
11/21/2010-6:30pm at 6:30 pm (UTC -4)
uhh Daily news said he would NOT be the bench coach. You’re on my **** list now Kingman.
11/21/2010-6:45pm at 6:45 pm (UTC -4)
Yes, I made the HUGE mistake of copying that from Metsblog, which had it WRONG and just updated it.
11/21/2010-8:56pm at 8:56 pm (UTC -4)
Ohhh so we can blame MC? Okay.
11/21/2010-5:52pm at 5:52 pm (UTC -4)
Is it true that Collins was hired so that on Black Friday the Mets could fire him and anoint Backman the new mgr of the Mets?
this is really what i expected all along. Collins manager, Hale 3B coach, Melvin bench coach. I would also have no problem with Teufel being the 1B coach/token 86 Met and Warthen staying on as a pitching coach.
11/21/2010-6:05pm at 6:05 pm (UTC -4)
New York Mets 2000 NL Champ Pitching Coach and Boston Red Sox end of the curse Red Sock Curt Schilling Pitching coach Dave Wallace possible new pitching coach?
Terry collins’ best friend is dave wallace. be interesting to see if he gets a job. Dan warthen did well as pitching coach in ’10. #mets

Stick write this up and post it A.S.A.P.
11/21/2010-6:35pm at 6:35 pm (UTC -4)
Much better idea than Warthen, who should be, literally, the last choice. Just above the pitching machine getting the job.
but they’re still working on the contract, so I doubt they’ve decided on the coaches yet.
11/21/2010-6:42pm at 6:42 pm (UTC -4)
I have suggested bringing him back
11/21/2010-7:03pm at 7:03 pm (UTC -4)
i dont understand the hate for Warthen. he had one of the best pitching staffs in baseball last season.
11/21/2010-7:14pm at 7:14 pm (UTC -4)
With a lot of trash in the bullpen and the injury to Johan.
Keeping Warthen and Hale is great with me.
But HoJo and the utter loser Shines MUST go.
11/21/2010-7:17pm at 7:17 pm (UTC -4)
well Shines is already gone but i haven’t heard anything about HoJo or a new hitting coach
11/21/2010-6:44pm at 6:44 pm (UTC -4)
Go read the comments on Collins at Metsblog if you want to laugh hysterically….
11/21/2010-7:41pm at 7:41 pm (UTC -4)
“If I’m Wilpon, I stop this charade now. Fire Alderson, fire Deposta, eat the money, and find a GM who can make the right decision”.
“Me, I would have gone about things differently. I would have put Backman in as manager, then I would have conferred with him and Randolph on suggestions for a suitable GM”.
best post of the day
Who said the Mets are getting rid of Warthen ?. John Maine ?.
We all know he a habitual liar.
11/21/2010-8:46pm at 8:46 pm (UTC -4)
Isn’t that some classic stuff?
Yeah, the one about asking Randolph is too much!!
11/21/2010-6:52pm at 6:52 pm (UTC -4)
I like this guy on Metsblog a LOT:
Nov 21, 2010, 6:12 pm at 6:12 pm #
because collins is backman with experience .. he has gotten the bad stuff out the way and should be ok going forward
personally, i like this hire. with a strong front office backing him up, the inmates are no longer running the asylum, as it has been the last 5 years.
the mets are an under-achieving group of prima donnas and frauds. their record shows it. time to put up or shut up mr wright, mr reyes … et al.
i like this alot.
