Well yesterday was a grueling eight hours of work – if you consider watching the ” Odd Couple ” marathon while manning the post outside of a hospital C.C.U unit “work”
Unfortunately there has not been a wealth of Mets news in the last few days , unless you count the Dodgers signing one of the few decent free agent pitchers ( John Garland) Mets related. So I shall share with you a link that the fine people from the Mets Media Relations Department sent me. Terry Collins answers our tweets !
And with that said …. HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!
Some much hated Mets alumni celebrating birthdays today include :
One of the worst Mets managers of all time , Jeff Torborg is 69 (1941) .
He was known for his power bat and great fielding , as well as his off season job digging graves, third base man Richie Hebner is 63 today (1947) . By the time he arrived to the Mets it seemed like he’s rather commit suicide than to actually play for the Mets !
One of the most mediocre Mets catchers of all time , Brian Schneider is 34 (1976) . All I can say is we opted not to re-sign Paul LoDuca for him !!??
Mets drafted relief pitcher, Steve Dillon, from the New York Yankees on November 26, 1962.The Atlanta Braves signed back up catcher, Charlie O’Brien of the New York Mets as a free agent on November 26, 1993.
And don’t forget while you are preparing your turkey shakes to go along with your turkey pudding, there are just 126 days until the Mets open the 2011 season against the Florida Marlins in Miami and 133 days until the Mets 2011 home opener against the Washington Nationals at Citi Field.
Mo Vaughn just loves hot fudge turkey sundaes

well I think its safe to say that the Mets could not have signed Garland. No way would we be willing to give him that fairly easy vesting option at 8 mil.
as for the remaining FA SP options, i would have to say VIcente Padilla is the best option…
