According to MLB.com’s Anthony Dicomo, during the afternoon portion of yesterday’s Winter Meetings in Orlando Florida, the Mets re-signed utility infielder Russ Adams and career minor league catcher, Dusty Ryan to minor league contracts.
Adams – who was on the Mets AAA Buffalo affiliate, was originally the first round draft pick of the Toronto Blue Jays 2002. In his five seasons in Toronto, Adams batted .247/.313/.372. He was called up during the first few weeks of last season ,when Jose Reyes was still out with a thyroid condition and the Mets optioned Ruben Tejada to Buffalo. Adams didn’t see any playing time though.
Adams hit .250 in 75 games for the Bisons , scoring 34 runs while hitting seven homeruns and knocking in 33 RBIs. His On Base Percentage was .307 and his slugging average was .402.
Last year for the San Diego Padres AAA affiliate, Ryan batted .199/.333/.349 . He played briefly with the Tigers in 2008 and 2009.
Well I guess the Naboobs of Negativity can’t say that Sandy didn’t keep his promise of not obtaining any players this week.
