Baseball America announced that their 2010 Executive of the Year is Texas Rangers GM Jon Daniels. Baseball America credits Daniels ability to withstand his 1st 4 years of losing records and the trading away Adrian Gonzalez and Chris Young and having little to show for it. To being able to build a Pennant winner while “saddled with the constraints of a team in bankruptcy” as the reason why Daniels is Baseball America’s 2010 Major League Executive of the Year.
The article goes into what it describes as Daniels “strategic teardown” mode back in May of 2007 and more. I can only hope that in 5 years (or less hopefully) Sandy Alderson will be the 2015 Major League Executive of the Year.
It’s a good read that I recommend checking out. – Link

forget 2015. He will be retired by then anyway.
He will win the award in 2011 after the Mets take the WS title.

Love the optimism.
I wondered why Alderson even wanted this job as Mets GM – at this point in his life, with all he’s accomplished. I too believe he won’t stick around for long – and not b/c he’s fired but b/c whatever challenge he feels this is, he’ll have accomplished it and move on.

a 7 figure salary, and he doesn’t have to spend most of his time in the D.R.? He likes a challenge and was bored?
