Interesting…
Nothing much new – unless you count a new clubhouse/equipment manager.
Still looking for another SP – one with more than just a minor league contract and invite to ST.
Hasn’t ruled extension talks for Jose this year.
Second base still up for grabs and if you read between the lines, very unlikely it’s going to be Castillo’s job to lose.

When he goes to camp, I know it’s partially, or maybe mostly, Terry Collins’ say, but is Oliver solely vying for a bullpen role? Or would he get consideration/work as a starter?
“I think that’s something that will be discussed between Terry and Oliver, and will be something that will certainly be determined before spring training gets into full swing. But that’s a conversation that needs to take place between Ollie and Terry, and I’m sure will take place.”

Yes not much new more just a confirm on certain things like Hu being a backup and still no offer officially made to Young and what they see as far as where Castillo fits on the team.

Rubin proves the squeeky wheel does get the grease after all..
Still sounds like, though it’s very likely because of the way Rubin framed the questioning, that It’s Murphy’s job provided he looks adaquate defensively. Castillo would have to basically look 25 and do something..drastic like steal bases like Reyes or somehow show some extra base gap power and get more doubles out of clean hits. And even still, small sample size. I feel like Castillo’s the ‘safe’ in case of injury option so they don’t have to use Tejada or someone equally unlikely to positively contribute to winning. Chances are Luis won’t really help out much, but he’s experienced and OBP enough that he won’t cnotribute to losing at least.
With Perez, that conversation is #1 on importance. It represents how the Mets failed in response to Perez’s failures last season. (You know, sending him down to work as a Starter when they were going to use him as a reliever) They’ll work with him at a specific task and he’ll either succeed and stay or fail and go. fairly give him a chance to provide value, but not keeping him around if (cont)

he’s crap.
The rest was okay, just bits and pieces and mostly runaround stuff.
Still hoping for this, prioritizes SP, bullpen, extra outfielders, extensions, in taht order. Hasn’t talked about extending Reyes, because that’s a post-setup for 2011 thing. But not ruled out that they could do that in Spring, or even during the season.

I kind of got the impression from reading this interview that Murphy was the favorite so far to land the 2nd base job, with a late inning defensive replacement for him.
ST though should iron that all out. Agree about Castillo basically having to look like he’s 25 again to land the job.
Ollie P is anyone’s guess. Mine is he will not be on that roster come opening day, given his performance in ST.

Agreed on Murphy. I think if he shows that he can play decent defense at 2B, the job will be his. Unless Emaus or Turner puts up incredible offensive numbers.

Contrary to popular belief, this interview helps solidify that Alderson isn’t running the team from teh front office. that’s just a “Hi, I’m Billy Beane and i’m an egomaniac!” thing.

right now Murphy, Hu and Paulino are locks to be on the team. Emaus probably gets the nod over Turner as the RH 2B, Evans gets the Tatis role and a currently unknown person gets the 4th OF role.

That place is such a joke–the comments area that is; actually after checking out many other blogs, I have hugely renewed respect for Cerrone. After checking out many other Met blogs, his site really does shine above pretty much all of them.
But I have just been having fun tweaking idiots in the comments section there.

Clearly this is a person pathologically desperate for attention of any kind. A seriously sad case.

I have never had problems with Blackberry commenting without downloading anything–one thing which may help—if after logging in it still says “log in to reply” just refresh the page and it then has you logged in.
