The Sunday Question

I know baseball is getting closer but since there is a New York team in the football playoffs, lets ask hopefully the second to last football question:

Will the Jets win today at Pittsburgh and if they do, would you dare to put down a score?  And if they lose, would you mind giving the score as well?  How about that game in Chicago?  Predict a winner and a score!

I am sure holing the jets lay a smackdown on the steelers – but in reality it will be close . My prediction 21-10 jets

        Where’s Fongy? I need backup!

He is somewhere in Pennsylvania, wearing his Mean Joe Greene jersey, locked in his Steeler shrine, wearing his Polamalu wig, quietly lighting his black and gold candles, and preparing for his pregame incantations and ritual dancing…..

He’s in Philly where no Mets fan can hear him scream !!!

          1. stickguy

            I would.

He is actually closer to 1/2 way between philly and Pittsburgh, so legitimately steeler country.

    23-17 Jets

    27-14 Packers

Ah….not a football fan but for the sake of all you Jets fans – hope they pull it off. I always like rooting for the underdog. If I’m not mistaken, the Jets haven’t won the Superbowl since 1968? ’69? I know it was the same year the Mets won the WS but don’t know if that was before the Mets won or right after.

They won Super Bowl III in Jan 1969–the ONLY time they have ever made it to the Super Bowl.

Thanks! I knew it was something like that….

I’m rooting for the Jets, but it will be a tough game for them. So I will predict 23-20, but could go either way!

as to the other game, I was big on the packers earlier in the week, but now think the Bears are going to win, again by 3, and this one won’t be high scoring either. 17-14?

but mostly, I need some warmth, and BB season to start. Very much over winter already.

I think these are extremely hard games to pick.

    Packers 23, Bears 17

    Steelers 20, Jets 16

But I would not bet on either one; too close to call.

    Jets 23-20
    Packers 31-27

Remember the NY Rangers run when they finally won the Stanley Cup?

Remember the Red Sox run when they finally won the World Series?

Remember the NY Giants run when they won their last Super Bowl?

    I do.

This Jets run has that same vibe and if the Jets are meant to go to the Super Bowl then going though probably the 3 best Quarterbacks in the AFC with a 2nd yr QB on the road is how it must be so it can be held to those magical runs I listed above.

Disclaimer: I’m a Giants fan. As for the Jets contest I’m hoping the Jets win. I’m a Giants fan that has no ill will to Gang Green. Maybe growing up in a neighborhood where Emerson Boozer, Wesley Walker & others where residents you’d run into locally makes me feel that way. Kurt Sohn’s family owned a local Liquor store my parents would buy from and Kurt worked there out of college when he was on the Jets and even as a “minor” Jet player my mom loved the then kid and we alway’s rooted for them to do well. Now to the game:

I’m rooting for them but I’m not optimistic. The first Pitt game they won on the strength of a Kickoff Return for 7 plus a Safety. Those are 9 big points that are “tilts” in a contest as opposed to typical points in match ups. Also Polamula is not a scratch today and while not 100% his presence is huge. Pitt can shift it’s defense back to stopping the run and make Sanchez try to beat them. And this isn’t the Pat’s poorly ranked secondary this week. Lastly, if it comes down to FG’s Folk is nerve-racking at best and Hines Field is brutal on FG Kickers. As for Brad Smith being present, if it comes down to relying on Brad Smith doing something to win the game that’s trouble right off the bat. I was happily wrong last week and hopefully I’ll be wrong again this week for my gang green fan friends.

Wasn’t quite 70-7, but I’ll take it! woot!

    1. kingman 26

Hate to blow my own horn, but I was pretty damn close!

      Packers 23, Bears 17

      Steelers 20, Jets 16

      1. stickguy

jets at least manned up in the 2nd half. Just dug way too deep a hole in the first half.

S howed 1/20 of the heart that the Jets showed this year.

        1. njstuckintx

I take 1/2 a foot at this point.

          It just doesn’t get old…

          1. kingman 26

They should invite the Jets ballboys to spring training to explain how a team with heart plays.

          2. stickguy

don’t worry. Terry will be taking care of that.

            you and your heart campaign.

          4. kingman 26

Hey, I know reality isn’t as fun for you two as it is for me….if that had been the Mets yesterday, when it was 21-0, they would have been swinging at the first pitch and dreaming of the postgame spread….

          5. TRS86

Actually if it had been last years Mets they would have came all the way back to blow it in the end. Well uh… maybe it was last year’s Mets.

          6. kingman 26

            Haha!

            :-)
