The NY Daily News is reporting that former Met hitting Coach Howard Johnson has decided to part ways with the Mets after deciding to turn down an offer as either the hitting coach for Mets affiliates in Port St. Lucie and or Brooklyn.
Johnson has yet to make a comment.

I am surprised though. COnsidering he stunk (best as we can tell) as a HC, why offer him that at such a low level? Why not get real coaching for impressionable youth?
I thought they would offer him a gig in the FO, some sore of community laision job.

I’m assuming those positions also came with a lower salary?
Sometimes, it’s hard to take what you perceive as a step backwards.
Wonder how much, if anything, Jerry got for his guest appearances this week on MLB network.

there is that factor.
you gotta figure most of these guys take the low minors jobs as a step to get to the majors. But going back to the bottom? Not hard to see him passing.
I assume he has plenty of money, but I guess not everyone from back in those days made crazy money. or they met bernie!
