Good Luck Luis Castillo! And now that part 1 of 2 of Omar Minaya’s great signings have hit the road, I would like to take this time and think a little bit about Castillo and his time with the Mets.
Today’s question: What was the one thing POSISTIVE that Castillo brought to the Mets? What was his best moment?
C’on….think. After all, there must have been something…..right?
Here’s a side question to mull on, you think Perez gets released today? If not, do you think he’ll make the end of the week?

If Ollie is released it will be tomorrow at the earliest
As for Castillo – The Homerun that he hit in ’09 is a stand out in my opinion – I think at the time it was one of the hardest homers he hit while in a Mets uniform

I think you might need to extend that to Jason Bay as well. I know its a bit premature but I still dont see him hitting more than 20 HR. In fact i’m expecting only 12-14 from him b/c I still dont understand how he generates any power with his swing.
Ralph Kiner pretty much said the same thing yesterday talking about how everytime he sees Bay all he does is hit singles…

I heard that discussion with Ralph yesterday.
I can only hope those singles up the middle are in line with that timing issue he said he’s working on this spring. Specifically said he was working on hitting up the middle for a month or so. Why, I have no idea. Why wouldn’t he be working on getting his more natural swing back, the one that includes lifting the ball in the air to go over the wall?

Don’t know if Perez will be released today – my guess is tomorrow. I saw the projected pitching for the next several days and Ollie isn’t on it. Very telling.
Castillo? I really don’t remember too many ‘good’ moments with him. I remember his first HR when he came over to the Mets.

You knew what not to expect from him.

Him standing there at his locker after the dropped ball game answering questions from the media and not hiding like some others may have done.

sadly, no big moments for Castillo. The upper deck RH was at least a WTF just happened moment!
Ollie, probably not on Sunday. Could be tomorrow, certainly by the end of the week. But tomorrow sounds good.
