Considering how long Mets fans have waited to see this happen. I hope you understand that the least we can do is get the reactions of the parties involved in this since this is breaking news.
I respect your feeling that this is not Met related but I disagree.
I am utterly un-cold, but how can it be hard to watch?
Remember the shape he was in in the winter of 2009 after receiving a 36 million dollar deal that you, me, Omar, Boras and Ollie’s family were the only ones who approved of?
Remember how he refused to go to AAA last year when asked and used up a spot on the roster while at the same time utterly refusing to go down to work on improving?
He’s a selfish jackass child.
How many people in this world would do anything to have the opportunity to make 5 or 10% of what he has made the last two years, and he couldn’t even keep himself in shape or spend a few months in Buffalo?
I hope he never even gets a chance to play major or minor league ball again.
I’m not in disagreement with any of your points concerning Ollie – only I don’t care if he goes on to pitch well, even on the Mets dime this year. I wanted him gone, he won’t be here and I don’t have to hold my breath any longer with him on the mound.
The guy was just fired. Looked like he was having a hard time not crying. Just commenting it was hard to watch.
I hear you; but I guess I feel a lot more sorry for people who are fired who did not make $24 million the last two years, and won’t get $12 million over the next 6 months to lessen the pain of being fired.
Just listened to SNY special report on the Perez release.
They showed the entire Alderson interview and Jonas had Kevin B. on the phone with reactions.
If Kevin said once, he said 5 times this FO gave both Castillo and Perez a fair shot to make the team. Castillo didn’t distinguish himself, Perez was completely ineffective. Basically said it’s a new sherriff in town and no one could find fault with the way they handled both these guys.
I am not cold for the most part, but I am with you 100% Prismo.
Ollie’s a selfish, childish lowlife.
Represented by a pathologically selfish lowlife.
And while I agree with Ceetar that this is not a day or an event to celebrate, Ollie literally stole 36 million from the Mets.
A new day be a-dawnin’ for this team, and we have a ways to go until King of Injuries Beltran is gone, but still, we are moving in the right direction.

OK, this is the last one allowed.
he is gone. So is slappy. So no more posts on either one are allowed.

You’d have to be cold not to find this hard to watch.

Now it’s time to turn the page.

i didn’t find it hard to watch at all. However, I am very cold.
And like Kingman, my lasting image of Ollie is his entering camp with a beer belly.
So long, see ya, don’t let the door hit you on the way out.

36 million dollars over three years for:
31 G
21 GS
3-9 record
112.1 IP
123 H
99 K
100 BB
21 HR
1.99 WHIP
Without a doubt, one of the worst contracts in the history of baseball, not just Met history.
Rick Ankiel couldn’t pitch anymore either. He took a different route than Ollie.
