I’m reading The Mets traded Kunz to the Padres for Dykstra.

Not sure why. I would think the next acquisition we’d be hearing about would be for a catcher, considering Paulino’s health issues.

What good was Kunz going to do? Might as well bring in Dykstra. Oh it’s not Nails? Never-mind.

No, I don’t care that we didn’t keep Kunz. I meant why the trade at all? Wasn’t Dykstra a first round draft pick? San Diego giving up on him? They actually think Kunz is a better bet to do something?

That’s what I meant by wonder why. Wonder who initiated that trade as well.

Oh, uh duh. If Bay is out and Duda makes the roster, who plays 1B in AAA? Even if Evans does not get claimed he could make the team if Bay goes on the DL. This is most likely just AAA depth.

Ah….I didn’t see your post until after I replied.
Sounds like as good a reason as any.

Dykstra hasn’t played above A+ yet. Doubt he is AAA depth.

He’s a guy that has shown some promise even if SD gives up on him. He’s a walking machine with some power. He probably needs to be a little more aggressive and swing at good pitches to raise that batting average.

speaking of the team, it is long past 1:00 today. Any word on which players cleared waivers?

I’ve seen nothing on this myself. Been keeping an eye on the twitter feed to the left for that.

speak of the devil, 3 in a row that Misch cleared (big surprise), and is most likely to accept (a smart move on his part I think, and good for the Mets).

Presumably no one’s leaked it to the reporters yet, or they were too busy at the game. Or they’re waiting on Bay’s medical update before deciding what to do?

I finally got the chance to listen to this audio. Thanks for the link.

I just have to say….these ML physicals seem to be far superior than anything I’ve ever experienced with annual physicals. I read this week about the minor leaguer that was first suspended b/c of a positive for PEDs, only to find out it was cancer. Caught early, recouping at home.
Now Paulino diagnosed with some colon and/or stomach issues. And the Reyes thyroid condition last year.

These guys never have to get an appointment or on a wait list for an xray or MRI either. Ah..such is the life of a ballplayer.

Seems that the new-look F Mart had another big day. Starting to wonder if there may be a surprise if Bay can’t go. Probably not, but something to think about.
