Place your bets! TRDM predictions for the 2011 season.

Well, the second place Mets will battle the Marlins tonight kicking off the 2011 season.

We at the TRDM decided to put our imaginary money where our mouths are and put out our predictions for the Mets.

For better or worse, here they are and for those of you reading, throw your predictions on the Comment Section following this article.

After all, that’s what makes this Mets site unique.

Enjoy.

Oh, and just so you should know, not one of our authors believe the Sports Illustrated prediction of the Mets coming in last.  Maybe because we know our team better than most and perhaps we also subscribe to reality.

Our own TRS predicts the NL East as:

1) Phillies-89 wins

2) Braves-89 wins

3) Mets-82 wins

4) Marlins 78 wins

5) Nationals-71 wins

Prismo goes against the “Fighten Phills” with his picks.

1) Braves- 94 wins

2) Phillies-92 wins and the wild card winner of the National League

3) Mets-80 wins

4) Marlins-79 wins

5) Nationals-73 wins

Prismo believes that the Marlins and the Mets might be interchangeable with wins and throws out the Reds as the winner of the 2012 World Series.

Kingman takes the Phillies all the way.

1) Phillies 94-68

2) Braves 90-72

3) Marlins 83-79

4) Mets 81-81

5) Nationals 75-87

Kingman believes that the Phillies will beat the Red Sox 4 games to 2 to win the World Series.

Rusty the die hard Mets fan

Mrose throws out these picks.

1) Phillies-90 wins

2) Braves-88 wins

3) Mets- 83 wins

4) Marlins-77 wins

Mat has the Red Sox winning the World Series as well.

My predictions

1) Braves-90 wins

5) Nationals 74 wins

The Red Sox will win the World Series.  I’ve adopted them as my surrogate American League team to root for.

I’m predicting the Royals win it all – with a roster that includes George Brett, Amos Otis , Dan Quisenberry and Bret Saberhagen how could you not !!??!!

    1) Braves – 96 wins
    2) Mets – 90 wins
    3) Phillies – 88 wins
    4) Marlins – 74 wins
    5) Nationals – 73 wins

Div Winners – Braves, Cincy, Giants… Close wildcard, with Dodgers taking it.

Div winners in the AL – Boston, Twins, Rangers, with Tampa Bay as the wild card.

Giants vs. Boston. Giants win in 7. First repeat in a long time.

And yes, I’m a little optimistic about our Mets, but it’s opening day, so I’m not letting anyone piss in my corn flakes today!

SI_JonHeyman: i hear mets have signed jennie finch as No. 5 starter. or is it siddfinch?

Stick to writing about baseball, homeslice, as the humor bone was apparently removed at some point.

To keep this in the “predictions” realm, The Mets shove the ball so far up the ‘haters’ rear-ends, you can see the stitching of the ball in the whites of their eyes.

      LOL….you tell ‘em.

  7. CaseStreet

Mets will win the NL East. You heard it here first.

    Phils get the Wild Card.

    Average:
    Braves 91 wins
    Phillies 90 wins
    Mets 83 wins
    Marlins 80 wins
    Nats 74 wins

    Looks pretty damn reasonable.

Of course this is probably not even mathematically possible.

    1. TRS86

So you are saying you expect everything to break right for the Rockies?
Overall your list looks good. Few shockers here and there but no more than mine would have.

      1. wannybackstra

I don’t know what the hell you are talking about. But sure. Why not.

      2. Ceetar

A lot of people seem to be picking the Rockies

I am slightly modifying what I posted the other day because TRS made a lot of sense when he suggested the bottom of the division wouldn’t be that poor. So here it goes:

    1) Braves- 97 wins

    2) Phillies-89 – no WC

    3) Marlins-76 wins

    4) Mets-73 wins

    5) Nationals-64 wins

    1. saltygary

Also can we make sure this gets saved for late in the season. I would really love a heaping plate of crow.

  12. metsfan4decades

Red Sox over the Braves in the WS.

  13. stickguy

nobody asked me for my picks. Guess I better write more pieces! was even thinking about a long ramble for today.

but anyway, I predict the mets will win between 85-90, and that the Phils have a 2009 mets style season, and go into a death spiral later in the year, and finish out of the money.

They already have a nice head start, and are only 2 SP problems from being right there!

Oh, and if they fall below .500 in July/August, their fabulous fans will be booing the snot out of them. And frankly, I can’t wait!

  14. kistics

I’m with Kingman on NL East record.

    I say BoSox over Giants.

  15. tkfj2

    NL East
    Braves
    NL Central
    Reds
    NL West
    Giants
    NL WC
    Mets (88-74)

    AL East
    Bo Sox
    AL Central
    White Sox
    AL West
    A’s
    AL Wildcard
    Yankees

    Now you know.

  16. gipperpdx

    84 wins.

That could be a bit on the optimistic side if both Tron and Reyes are long gone to new teams by midsummer.

Alright I put this in the wrong spot before so I’m parking it where the cool kids hang out….

If this spring has taught me anything it’s that Snoop is up to his knees in zero calories and I can use my points to buy a weather balloon. I’ve drank the Blue & Orange Kool Aid and the room is starting to spin. With that I’m going over, like way over on my prognostications. Hey, someone’s gotta go for the plus size tilt. So here it goes:

    Wins: 89
    Rookie of the Year: Emaus
Ike wins his first Gold Glove, hits 25HR, drives in 100
Reyes: 100+ runs scored, 60 stolen bases, .305 avg., 20 triples.
    Pelfrey: 18 Wins
Beltran gets Comeback Player of the Year. Plays 115 games in the field and 9 as DH.
Santana comes back in mid-August and leads them to the Wildcard.
And, D. Wright is D. Wright and cuts down on Strikeouts.

Alright, somebody crack open the window Snoop’s lighting up again.

OPENING DAY AT LAST – LGM!!!!
…I know, so excited I’ve gone all caps…
