Feliciano Hurt By Warthen’s Remarks Says He Will “Show Him” When He Faces Mets In Subway Series

Former Met Pedro Feliciano in a post by ESPN’s Wallace Matthews said that he disagreed with Yankee GM Brian Cahman’s comment that the Mets “abused” him while he was a Met.

He then added that Dan Warthen hurt his feelings with his comment that one of the reasons the Mets chose not to re-sign him was due to all the innings his arm had logged during his time with the Mets.

Feliciano who is currently on the disable list with strained left rotator cuff had this to say to Dan Warthen. “I will show him in the Subway Series when I strike out Ike Davis. When I jump up and down on the mound I’ll be like, ‘That’s for you.”’

talk about a nonsense story (the whole thing, not you NJ). But to be fair, it was reported he made that comment while laughing.

who really cares? Pedro knows he pitched a lot, the yankees did too, and apparently, neither one cares. Pedro managed to cash in on his retirement plan, so he is good to go.

mostly, I can’t figure out what the hell Cashman is doing. It has to be some kind of exit strategy, right? Either trying to get canned for a paid vacation, or knowing he is leaving and trying to distance himself from stupid moves likely to go bad?

OK so either Pedro is joking or he’s an idiot. He’s been around baseball enough to know that lots of innings and appearances for a middle reliever will eventually catch up on you and even if you are one of the “great” ones teams will shy away from taking that chance. Who cares?

he’s probably half joking, but Warthen didn’t need to strike back either and basically say Pedro is washed up. But he should lay off anyway, he has a almost shot at getting cheered slightly be Mets fans I would think.

? Where did Warthen say he was basically washed up? All I have read that he said was that Pedro’s amount of innings was a factor in not re-signing him. Well duh shit. Although the most important reason was money and the 2nd reason was draft picks I am sure that innings pitched came in a close 3rd.

yes, innings. I’m extrapolating. But not offering the two years and not wanting to resign him, he’s basically implying he’s used up. It’s also not the reason they didn’t resign him, that was that he was overpriced for the limited value he adds.

That’s ridiculous. He answered a question honestly and said nothing wrong at all. He said the most common sense answer that anyone could think of. One of the reasons that we did not re-sign him was because of how many innings he has thrown the last 3 years. Again, well duh shit.

apparently he was laughing as he said it so clearly was saying it in jest.

So in other news GO UCONN!!!!

Last i checked, warthen isnt the GM. While im sure warthen is correct, who’s to say he wasnt resigned because the mets just didnt want to give him a 2/16 contract with an option. Maybe the Mets just didnt want to overpay considering they have options. I dont hear cash jumping down Milwaukee’s neck with their rental abuse of CC before he signed up with the yanks.

Honestly, the first time I saw it I thought Warthen said too much. I can’t blame Pedro for anything he said – just sounded competitive, he was clear to say that he likes Warthen.

On the other hand, is this story really worth reporters running back and forth to get reactions from people?

Are they going to ask Byrdak in a week how he feels about the role and if it’s an abusive one like when Pedro was here?

‘…when I strike out Ike Davis. When I jump up and down on the mound I’ll be like, ‘That’s for you.”’

I didn’t hear any video on this as some of you might have because you commented about Pedro laughing but I’ll take your word for it. Was he laughing with this comment above? LOL…..when has Pedro ever shown much emotion on the mound? Jumping up and down? This is going to be an interesting subway series this year.

one of the posts the other day did say he was laughing when he said this.

besides, I thought that it was against Yankee corporate policy to show any emotion, or taunt another team. Not like Joba or Swisher would do anything like that!
