Saturday Night in the Minors. To quote Otis Day & the Knights:”So. Hit. It.”.
Pawtucket 8, Buffalo 3
Pat Misch has chosen to stay with the Mets rather than opt for free agency, which was his right when he didn’t make the big league club out of Spring Training. His 2011 debut was marred by the long ball, which masked an otherwise solid outing (7 innings, 5 runs, 4 hits, 2BB’s, 7K’s – though two of those hits went out of the park). Rueben Tejada went 2 for 4, as did Jason Pridie – who had two homers and knocked in all the Bison’s’ runs. Other than that, Buffalo’s offense was rather anemic.
Binghamton 6, Akron 2
Welcome to 2011 Brad Holt! The former first round (supplemental) pick has been on the Road to Bustville, but there are plenty who still have hope for him. Last night the Holt Express (taking suggestions for nicknames here) got back on track, going 5 innings, 0 runs, 3 hits, 2BB, and 7 K’s. The bad news? Ricky Brooks and Roy Merritt coughed up a 2-0 lead in the 7th. Josh Satin (3 RBI’s) and Eric Campbell (1 RBI) both went 2 for 5 to pace the offensive attack, as the B-Mets got four runs in the last two innings to pull away. The best news? Dylan Owen finished off the game with a scoreless inning, lowering his ERA form 108.00 to 27.00. Baby steps Dylan. We’re going to get over this mountain together. Side note, the Aeros Joel Torres wasn’t around for this game, but somehow we don’t think he minds…
St. Lucie 3, Palm Beach 2
Former 2007 2nd , Scott Moviel got back on the hill. Injuries and lack of performance have dogged him, but he got off to a good start here, going 5 innings, 1 run, 4 hits, 2BB’s, 5K’s. John Church gave up a run in two innings, blowing the lead but earning the win. Maikel Cleto started for Palm Beach. He was the key minor leaguer that the Mets parted with, going to the Mariners, in the JJ Putz trade. Francisco Pena went 2 for 3. He’s Tony’s son. That’s about all you’re going to hear from him

The Sand Gnats and the Power, unable to take a hint, had their rain-necessitated double-header rained out. In defiance of God’s will, they will try a twin bill again today.
