Post Game: Can someone step it up…please?

Yes, I know its early and guys are not up to speed yet(I guess spring training is to check out the local hotties) but if we can take anything away from the last few years its this, games in April haunt you later on. John Niese gave up 5 ER’s over 6 innings and only 5k’s. That is not going to get it done…there’s no way around it. If 2008 taught us anything, overuse of the bullpen comes to bite you when you need them the most. Having said that, the bullpen tonight did their job tonight, holding the line for the offense to make a comeback.

"Dont call it a comeback...really....dont"

The offense would try to make some noise in the 8th. Down two runs(5-3 rockies) David Wright leads off with a single to center field. Carlos Beltran would follow suit, also singling to center which allowed David to go 1st to 3rd. Ike Davis hit a sharp line ticket to left field but intercepted by Tulo’s glove for the first out. Angel Pagan would come through with the sac fly to bring the Mets down one. Willie Harris would strike out swinging to end the inning and the last credible threat against Colorado pitching. The Mets have lost 6 of their last 7. They have only won 1 game at home…way to bring the fans back to the stadium guys.

    What else can we say?

Weaknesses getting exposed. SP, the Harris/Hairston duo.

TC ‘somewhat restrained aggravation’ in his post game interview – says Carlin.
I’m giving him credit. There’s no chucking, no throwing players under the bus, no making excuses and not blowing his cool no matter how much the beat writers are pinging him.

Apparently TC had a quick team meeting after this game. Oh to be a fly on the wall. Just slap ‘em upside the head. 2 games tomorrow, can’t go in wondering how they’ll manage to blow both those games.

‘Sounds like Felicano needs to decide on surgery. Not good. Doesn’t look good after Cashman blamed Mets.’

    Doesn’t sound good for Pedro.
Mets FO 1, Yankees FO 0

well, for a change, this is something that is not the Mets problem!

definitely not a good stretch of games, really tough not taking 2 out of 3 from the Nats and then a couple games they coulda shoulda won against a good Colorado team. Really need to sweep tomorrow to save face. A couple positives though: Murph has made some real nice plays in the field, surprising and nice to see. Also, Pedro Beato looked real good tonight. Wouldn’t mind seeing him get a chance in a bigger spot, maybe next time they have a lead he goes 7th, Izzy 8th, and Frankie 9th.

that is the frustrating part. a couple of breaks, and a couple less BP debacles, and some of these oh so close games go the other way, and they are 7-4.
