Before we get to the games, a bit of good news: Jerurys Familia has been promoted from St. Lucie to AA Binghamton, where he is inline to pitch Tuesday. In 6 starts this year, he has pitched 36.1 innings, stuck out 36, walked 8, and has a 1.49 ERA.
Louisville 8, Buffalo 0
Not a good day for Buffalo pitchers, who surrender 8 runs on 16 hits. Casey Fossum gave up the first 3, failing to get out of the 5th. Justin Hampson gave up 2 more and Taylor Tankersley gave up the final 3, but did strike out 5 in 2 innings. Just 5 total hits for the Bisons, including a double by Val Pascucci, but that was about it.
Binghamton 4, New Hampshire 0, Game 1
The B-Mets got the organization’s lone win on the day in the first game of a doubleheader. Dylan Owen made his first AA start and pitched 5 scoreless innings, striking out 3 and getting the win. After leaving yesterday’s game early, Jordany Valdespin returned to the lineup going 1-4. Josh Satin struck out twice, but also had a couple hits including a 2-run homer in the 3rd, which was all the B-Mets would need with some good pitching to get the win.
New Hampshire 2, Binghamton 1, Game 2
Game 2 went 9 innings (2 extra for a doubleheader game), with Edgar Ramirez starting and giving up 1 run in 4 innings. Roy Merritt and Erik Turgeon combined for 4.1 shutout innings, but Eric Niesen let up a run in the bottom of the 9th. After 9 innings across 11 appearances, Niesen has an ERA of 14. Just 5 hits from the B-Mets in game 2, with Brahaim Maldonado and Jose Coronado getting 2 each, but not enough to get more than 1 run across the board.
Rome 3, Savannah 0
The Gnats got some good pitching, but couldn’t push any runs across the board. Erik Goeddel went 6 innings, giving up 2 runs on 3 hits, and striking out 5. Chase Huchingson followed for 3 innings, giving up an unearned run on 4 hits with 3 strikeouts. Cory Vaughn had 3 hits including a double, and Darrell Ceciliani got going with a couple hits. Aderlin Rodriguez was hitless, dropping his average below the Mendoze line, and committed 3 errors in the field.

Nice to see Darrell Ceciliani playing again. I guess the injury was not TOO serious.

I think it was just a hamstring pull, so it was about 3 weeks, maybe a little more, which is pretty standard. You don’t want to miss that time, but it’s nothing to worry about.

Good news about Familla. I’m curious to see how he handles the competition at AA.
