Not for nothing but didnt wright get his “day off” yesterday for the rain out?

The good thing for us is that ubaldo has been slumping of late
The bad thing for us is this is the kind of lineup to get ubaldo back on track

the plan all along was to give him 2 days in a row. They really need him to feel better, and go off on one of his (increasingly infrequent) 2 week hot streaks right about now.

        Ditto on Bay

    Today’s Lineup is brought to you by the Letters P, U, T, R, I and D.

I know this isn’t the right forum for this post, but I just read this and didn’t remember seeing anything posted about it.

The Mets have agreed to sign 21-year-old Dominican right-hander Luis Mateo for $150K, reports Ben Badler of Baseball America. Mateo had previous agreed to deals with the Giants ($625K) and Padres ($300K), but neither deal became official due to injury and identity verification issues.

Yeah I read that somewhere as well. He’s supposed to have mid 90s FB and wicked slider. I gave 50-50 chance that he’ll need some sort of arm surgery….

I read this earlier – forget where.

I don’t much care that he’s 2 years older than first reported as he’s still young. He might be a bit of a gem. Apparently, the Mets have been tracking him for some time waiting to get the chance to sign him.

      1. njstuckintx

Yeah, age never really played a part with El Duque, right? The Giants almost went half a mil, so this could be decent down the line.

According to the, well, the good Star-Ledger:

““Right now,” assistant general manager John Ricco said, “it’s at least two weeks. And we hope it’s not much longer than that. But I think it’s a little to early to predict.”

    Done for the year.

    1. stickguy

25% chance done from the year.

best bet I would say is 4-6, so he should be back right about July 1.

absolutely the single worst thing to happen to the team this season.

“absolutely the single worst thing to happen to the team this season.”

        Without question.

Other than there not being a strike or a lockout.

      2. njstuckintx

There are several things to choose from, and the season is still young.

    2. metsfan4decades

Please, just stop. I’m begging them.
Stop giving us statements about injuries that remotely use the words ‘I hope’. It’s like a sure fire death sentence.

what a terrible lineup. But at least it got Beltran into the 3 hole.

of course, being the Mets, they will put up 10 runs on 17 hits today.

Not predicting, of course, if that will be enough to win the game!

    Holy ’2009 type line-up’ Batman!

Truly, this is beyond cruel. I really want to know what baseball gods we pissed off in 2006.

The series finale between the Mets and Rockies, already postponed from Wednesday, will not begin on time at 3:10 p.m. ET. It will open in a rain delay, with the forecast gloomy all day.

Even though it would require a return trip to Coors Field on an off-day, Terry Collins made that sound preferable to risking further injury on a slick field.

“I know that it’s not fun to have to try to worry about coming back,” the manager said. “But I’m sitting here with two of my stars [David Wright, back; and Ike Davis, ankle] not playing today, both due to injuries. The last thing I need is to … lose Carlos Beltran or Jason Bay or someone else who is a big, impact part of our lineup because it’s a cold, rainy day — just because we’ve got to get the game in when we’ve got five months to play. That’s my take on it.”

Works for me. Honestly, I’m not a pessimistic person but this game just has Loss with a capital L written all over it.

    1. darknova306

Agreed. All you have to do is look at that sad lineup he’s gonna put out there. Ugh.

Of course, an injury to Bay wouldn’t be the end of the world… nevermind. :)

    2. stickguy

1 less game with Harris starting and Ike sitting, i am all for it.

hell, let them get 15 straight rainouts, and maybe Ike does not miss a game!

and man, JerryC. must truly be senile (I was starting to wonder if that was the problem) if he just referred to Jason Bay as “a big, impact part of our lineup”.

      1. njstuckintx

He is, though. A big negative impact.

      2. TRS86

Hitting or not hitting he is still a big part of the lineup considering his replacements. At least once upon a time Bay used to be good.

        1. kingman 26

A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away……

          1. metsfan4decades

            LOL.
I still have a little more hope that Bay can get something together than I do that either Harris or Hairston are EVER going to contribute.

          2. kistics

me too, but the hope is fading rather quickly….

            swing! and a miss..
            swing! and a miss..
            STRUCK him out!…

            ugh..

  8. kistics

If it’s purely up to the Rockies to make the decision, why are they trying like hell to get this game in? Unless….. Tulo is really pushing for it..

    I bet you didn’t think about that one… !

      I’m sure you’re right:
