Just read Beltran was scratched due to swelling in his right eye. Wonder what that’s all about?

It appears the league has caught up with Dickey. I know he throws 4 pitches but outside of the knuckleball the others say “hit me” as they arrive at the plate and right now the knuckler is quoting the same as the rest of his repertoire.

I am not sure you ever “catch up” with a knuckle baller. I just don’t think he has a feel for the pitch right now. You have to wonder if tinkering with it actually caused the issue.

It’s very possible that scouting reports have revealed the potential break and direction of his pitches. His knuckleball may not be that unpredictable. Also Dickey threw his knuckleball harder than most other pitchers of his genre. That may have surprised some of the hitters last year. Of course he may have lost the feel for it as you say. But it should be noted that up until last year he was a AAAA pitcher. Hopefully, whatever the magic was last year will return before too long. Because he seems like a heck of a good person. One that you want to root for to do well.
