This Day In Mets Infamy With Rusty : The ” Seperated At Birth” Edition 05-18-11

There used to be a magazine that published from the early ’80′s to mid ’90′s called ” Spy” magazine. In that periodical they had a feature called “Seperated At Birth?” in which they would take pictures of actors, musicians, polticians, and match them up with other high profile celebrities in order to poke fun at them or because the resemblance was so on point. So since there was no game last night – ironic that the played a game during a rain storm on Monday yet they called off last night rain when there wasn’t any ( conspiracy theory anyone?) I goive to you The New York Mets “Seperated At Birth!”

First off is newly minted second baseman Justin Turner

And  Mean Mark Callaway – AKA ” The Undertaker !!”

Current Mets Manager Terry Collins

And Acadamy Award winning actor Dennis Hopper

And lastly  – our All Star shortstop,  Jose Reyes

And a Predator !!!

                                                  ” scary resemblance huh ?”

So let me know who on the Mets – past or present do you think is seperated at birth with in the comments section below.

And with that said….. HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!!

Mets alumni celebrating a birthday today includes:

One time boy genius of general managers, Steve Phillips (’97-’93) is 48 (1963). It is amazing how this man became a well respected general manager by the fans when in 1997 he took control of a joke of a Mets team and made them into World Series caliber team in 2000. Too bad his hubris as well as his crotch got the better of him and he is now spouting if inane trade scenarios for the team who fired him. So you say you hold no animosity towards the Mets Steve ? Riiiight !!!!

                                                              Here’s Steve

                                                                           And his better looking twin

” If  I was the donkey – I’d sue for defamation of character !!”

One of the few feel good stories of the ’08 and ’09 seasons, pitcher Nelson Figueroa is 37 (1974) , It is not often that a AAAA level pitcher can energize a fan base the way that Figgy did. But let’s face it, as much as I liked and respected this Brooklyn born , Lincoln High School graduate, he totally lost respect from me as well as much of the Mets fan base when he threw what looked like a temper tantrum when he didn’t make the team before the start of last season. Last time that I checked, he was designated for assignment by the Houston Astros.

And Mo Vaughn gets his own “Separated at Birth” segment also !!

” Can you tell who is who ?”

    LOL…very nice.

I’m wondering if they’ll get tonight’s game in. I’m reading rain likely at about 70% around game time.

    LOL! I remember Spy magazine!

And check this one out on the internet—Nelson Figueroa and chef Aaron Sanchez. Nearly twins. Except Sanchez is definitely better at cooking than Nelson is at pitching. Hell, Sanchez might be better at pitching too.

Yeah or the guy from true lies – can’t find a picture of him

Jerry Collins actually looks more like Robert Blake, at least in that picture. Not that I know how to post a picture of him to prove it!

somewhat related, back in our younger days my sister and I came up with an “all ugly” team. Don’t remember everyone that made it, but the Reds were loaded with talent in that area (on top of real talent, being as it was the big red machine days).

Of course, the captain of the all-ugly team later became a met (George F.). Rose was on it too.

Willie McGhee would be the star of that team!

oh yeah, he was on it for sure.

I would say Jon Niese could be on the bench of that team…. He needs a good nose job.
