Since Bay’s failures at key points in the game contributed to the Mets only scoring 3 runs I thought I would reference an excellent article about Bay that I read at the following:
I saw this article a few days ago myself. Interesting as Bay addressed this somewhat himself last night after the game.
He said he has gotten into some bad habits, to the point where getting comfortable at the plate again with success has to start with being uncomfortable as he gets used to his previous style/stance at the plate. He added: ‘if you can understand what I’m saying’….which I took it to mean he was so far off, and had been off for a long time, it’s actually going to feel unnatural to try and get back to what worked pre 2010.
It’s going to be hard to score runs with this lineup we have right now. And Turner has driven in something like 60% of the runs. Unless the rest start getting that hit with runners on base, winning ball games until Pagan/Ike/Wright return is going to be dependent on the pitching keeping the opposition off the base paths.
Easier said than done with some teams.
Yeah, if they can tread water until Davis and Wright get back (pagan, only if he actually finally hits will it help!), that is about all you can really hope for.
a few more of the “real” hitters (bay, Paulino, beltran) going on a blistering hot stretch would help immensely.
or maybe Murph man will go off, trying to win his job back from Turner!
interesting though (and typical Mets) that one guy could be losing the 2B starters job to another, when neither one is playing 2B!
