Writing this at 2:30 AM in the hope that it will help put ME to sleep, but not you…
Buffalo 7, Charlotte 5
The Bison rode a 5-run second inning to sink the Knights. Chin-lung Hu went 3 for 5, and now officially has more hits in less than a week at Buffalo than he did the entire month and a half in New York. Even more disturbing, Bobby Parnell went a third of an inning, giving up a hit and a walk while allowing the one runner he inherited to score. When he went on the DL with numbness in his finger, a rehab plan was put in place to physically cure what ailed him, However, during rehab, he has been placed in high stress situations (read: coming in with runners on) and had performed abysmally. Given the recent success of the Mets bullpen (Sunday’s loss notwithstanding – and even then, nothing was crushed off them), it looks as if Bobby is going to have an extended stay in Buffalo.
Harrisburg 4, Binghamton 1
Well, it was only two errors today. Which is still more than what the B-Mets scored. Progress. What wasn’t progress was Jeurys Familia. He didn’t pitch poorly per se (5IP, 3 runs, 2 earned, 5, 4 BB, 2K), but the walk rate was too high. His command deserted him last year, and re-appeared this year, so the bases on balls are something to watch. Is his locker too close to Holt’s? 2b Josh Satin went 2 for 4 with a two bagger and a double. Speaking of second basemen…..
Daytona 8, St. Lucie 4
Welcome to the season Reese Havens! After missing almost two months with an oblique injury, the oft-hurt Havens made his long awaited season debut at the keystone for PSL and went 2 for 3 with two walks and two runs batted in. It was thought he would start the season at Binghamton, learning from Wally Backman, but after a long layoff the brass figured to just ease him in. Now if he could only stay on the field.
Savannah 5, Greenville 4
The Sand Gnats hung a 5 spot in the bottom of the 8th to eke out the drive. Now THAT my friends, is a timely rally. The big blow came on a Cory Vaughn bases clearing double that tied the game. Robbie Shields also extended his hit streak to 12 games with a 2 for 4 effort while playing second. Angel Cuan picked up the win throwing 2.2 innings of shutout ball while fanning 5.

Parnell’s earlier problems up here obviously had less to do with a blood clot in his finger than in his continued struggles to figure it out. What good is a 98 MPH fastball Bobby if you can’t control it or it comes in flat? Sigh…..
So glad to hear Reese Havens is finally playing games. Here’s hoping as you said, he finally stays healthy.

M4d – you and i are the only ones here (i think) who think parnell is not very good. i think they ought to just leave him in AAA.
