While one can say it’s a bit early to really be concerned over Beltran’s last 9 games. It does deserve at least enough attention to at least keep an eye on going forward.
While 9 games is admittedly a small sample size a look at a (slightly) larger sample size over the past 15 games shows the numbers still may deserve monitoring. This is including his 3/HR 6/RBI game on May 12th.
Expecting a player to remain hot over an entire season is of course unrealistic and Beltran is most likely just in a cool down mode and is more than likely due to get hot again anytime now. Hopefully like tonight vs the Cubs would be great Beltran.
No pressure
Go Mets!!!

I kind of figured this would happen when Ike, then Wright went on the DL.
Why pitch to Beltran? Look at that lineup. Aside from Reyes, there is no one else opposing pitchers really have to worry about. Just pitch around Beltran and you’ve got it made. I believe that has something to do with his bat cooling off recently.
He should just take the walks they’re trying to give him and hopefully when one or both are back he’ll get better pitches to hit. Then again, if Bay would start hitting Beltran wouldn’t be the lone power bat in that lineup right now.
