Ugh, life without Ike, without Reyes, without Wright.

On Ike: of all the bad luck…..

What’s even more ironic is if Wright’s injury was diagnosed sooner than it was he probably would have not been on that field that day. Not saying it was Wright’s fault because I clearly do not think it was. Just saying that what are the chances Ike goes down in that same manner and suffers that same injury if circumstances were different on that play?

Can someone please dig up that jersey at Citi with all the bad karma attached to it – then burn it???

    Per Rubin’s latest post:

Source: Mets mull moving David Wright

    http://sports.espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/news/story?id=6612729

So…if they do find a way to sign Reyes then we’ll be bombarded with these type posts until they either extend Wright or actually trade him?

    Sigh.

    1. stickguy

e is signed (under team control) through 2013 anyway, so no reason they would have to move him (as opposed to just losing him, as with Reyes)

In honor of Knog, I picked this comment out of the comment thread to that post:

      “Just_Mlb
“a source familiar with the organization’s thinking told ESPNNewYork.com.”

sounds like Steve Phillips and Adam Rubin had lunch together and were talking #mets baseball”

      probably about right!

What a bullshit article that makes absolutely no sense at all. These damn reporters have not even looked at the Mets salary and just think that because the Wilpons are broke they can’t afford a MLB salary. If the salary is at 100M they can afford Reyes and Wright. So far we have heard that it will at LEAST be 100M. Wouldn’t you think before they could not “afford” Wright’s 15M that they would release/trade Pagan and Pelfrey saving around 10M? I don’t want to lose either one but if you had to pick between having those 2 and Wright? Duh.

      1. kingman 26

With apologies to Wanny and Mr. N, that “article” was a classic example of what today’s 24/7/365 media must do to fill space and gain attention.

Complete nonsense, and his “source” was probably Francesa or Heyman.

        Utter drivel.

      2. stickguy

assuming they finish out with productive years, gotta figure that after arbitration, combined those 2 will be pushing 10mill.

also (slightly!) possible they can unload a portion of bay’s salary. Maybe they can’t but certainly better to try that than to dump Wright.

So….is this what we have to look forward to the rest of the season – once they start trading off pieces?

Offense was non existent, BP is brutal lately.

    1. stickguy

pretty much. depends on the pieces. If Ike and Wright comes back, turner and murphy can keep hitting while covering 2B, and Beltran is the only big name traded, then the offense should be quite a bit better overall. especially if Bay ever shows some life.

the pen, I don’t know what the hell happened there. they were the best part of the team for quite a while. May be time to cycle in some new pieces.

Well, the pitching coming back to earth from that great streak should’ve been expected. The offense will be better when/if Wright/Ike come back and once Reyes is activated. But yeah, once Beltran and Reyes get traded… ugh.

      1. stickguy

other than the one hot streak, beltran really hasn’t done much for most of the season. And I still don’t think reyes is getting traded, but who the hell knows.

        1. darknova306

Yeah, he’s cooled off, but his presence in the lineup still alters a pitcher’s game plan. And I’m still convinced that Reyes gets traded. I hope I’m wrong and they have the budget to keep him and he has the willingness to stay, but I just don’t see it. We’ll see it in the end. Who knows.

Was that Jerry or Terry in the dugout tonight? Dickster toughs out 7 scoreless that’s better than what they should have expected on 1 wheel. No way he should have been in their in the eighth after hobbling around all night. What happened to get it to Issy and K-Rod for the eighth & ninth. This should have been that formula in my opinion after getting 7 out of RA. A wasted start. Of course scoring more than 1 run would have helped but some nights you can occassionally try to win one by 1-0.

Have you seen the pen’s stats lately?

      We have a AAAA team.

I say that the fact that we are even hovering anywhere near .500 is a huge tribute to the effort the players we have are giving for Collins.

  5. kistics

Can someone tell this team that the game is played ALL 9 INNINGS? Not 7, Not 5 and certainly not 3 but 9 F-in Innings!

This offense needs to learn how to adjust to pitchers. How many times have we seen this team get hits after hits early in the game only to come up short. After which the offense disappears starting inning #6. I don’t even know if there are stats like this, but the Mets must lead the league for over 3 years now in lack of runs scored in late innings.

  6. kistics

Plus, Evans sucks. I’m sorry, but I really haven’t seen anything out of him at all. I don’t know what this organization sees in him, but he’s really terrible. Ugh…

    1. TRS86

The organization sees little in him, overly optimistic fans see anything but what he is…. a 4A player.

      1. kingman 26

        He’s not even AAAA.

He’s whatever is between AA and AAA.

  7. metsfan4decades

It’s like this team is in a time warp.

We’ve got the anemic offense from ’09.
    We’ve got the god-awful BP from ’08.
We’ve got the pieced together SP from ’06.

It’s going to be a long summer in Met land.
