Watching this last night after the game was priceless.
Listening to the audio only he sounds much calmer than he looked while watching. I have to give him credit though. He honestly conveyed his frustrations, he articulated what he’s been watching and what he thinks the team as a whole is doing wrong and while he didn’t mention any Met by name, he certainly let them know by ‘failed execution’ tonight who he feels is not playing the game ‘the right way’.
He also held up a member of the Pirates as an example on how they all need to be playing the game. He’s right to a large extent. ML talent or not, all to a man needs to be hustling, needs to not be taking plays for granted, needs to keep their head in the game. Couple men on and you should already know what base you’d be throwing the ball to if it’s hit to you. Instead, they’re making the wrong plays, they’re not communicating, they’re not hustling, etc. etc.
And I’m sorry but Harris has to go. Not only did he publicly say he missing the Nats and their clubhouse, in his interview last night he threw the Pirate team right under the bus. Does he not realize they have to play them today?
Enough with him already.

I saw none of the game (thankfully). So, which guys were not hustling, and who made bad/wrong plays?
for the bad plays, I am always curious to know if it is guys with very little experience at a position, so it might not be 100% instinctive what to be doing.

Harris slacked at third allowing McCutchen to leg out an infield single. Harris also failed to cover the bag.
Pagan was picked off first and also missed a relatively easy liner in right center.
Beltran, jogging as always, allowed a ball to short hop him and it bounced off his body.

harris is a dog.
MF (I think) seemed to have a slightly different opinion on the difficulty of the Pagan play in CF (as in, most guys would not have gotten close) but I did not see it so can’t say myself if it was something he just misplayed.
Pick offs are hard to judge. Could have been not paying attention, being too aggressive, or just not being aware of how good a move a guy has. Plenty of times if a runner is going and the pitcher decides to throw over at the right time, he will get snagged.
Can’t say about Beltran, but I do know that even in his prime, he was so smooth and graceful that even running flat out it looked like he was gliding. At this point, maybe that is all he can do on his knees?

I’ve seen way too many pickoffs of our Mets this year. In my mind it’s more this year so far than in the last 4 years combined. Pay attention, guys.
There were also one or two other balls in front of Pagan in CF I thought he should have caught, but wound up dropping in front of him as it appeared he pulled up short.
I have no idea what’s going on with this team.
