only surprise is that it isn’t worse. but when you are only beating KC, Hou and Minn in a catagory related to wins, it is not a good sign.

So here’s where things get weird:

If the Mets’ back of the rotation held up as well as the Phillies’ and the Mets had also only lost 1 game when leading after 7 innings…

We’d be 36-25, good for 1/2 game back of 1st place in the division.

Nice stat-find NJ. But I do want to mention that I brought this EXACT topic up a few days ago (without the stats to back it up – which was where I failed) and someone told me it just “seemed” that way. ;) Guess not!

What is interesting is that the Tigers have a worse bullpen ERA than the Mets with a 4.83/ERA yet they have a 24-2 record when leading after 7 innings.

doesn’t matter how many runs you give up, if they score even more!

also the mets tend to play a lot of close games, so many of these are say 3-2 leads blown. Lot more room for error (and a bad pen) if you are ahead 8-2!

Just seemed that way? LOL…not to any Met fans who have been watching these games.

My only surprise is we’re not dead last.

I just don’t see how the Mets can fix this other than leaving their starters out longer.

I do think DJ Carrasco gets called up for Dale Thayers soon…
