Jason Bay at 92 plate appearances without an extra base hit and the Nats are tied with us in the standings.

Let’s not talk wild card anymore for awhile, eh?

    1. Mr North Jersey

Maybe we should just let fans talk about what they enjoy better. If that is Wildcard or finishing with a sub .500 season so be it.

I mean why tell someone to not talk about something they enjoy?

  2. metsfan4decades

Not sure why, but this loss tonight annoys me more than last night’s.

If the Mets defense was better tonight,
if Cap could get down a bunt,
If Parnell could pitch both innings without giving up a run,
if the Angels didn’t make some damn fine plays,

maybe we take this one. Too many ifs, obviously.

Throw in 11 LOB for good measure.

I’m starting to worry we’ve gone as far as we’re going to with ‘feel good’ stories as the result of Wright and Ike being out.

They’ve definitely been overachieving. It was just a matter of time, as some of the realists have mentioned before. And with all the talk of where the Mets are in the WC standings recently, I haven’t seen anyone talking on twitter tonight about how the Nats are now tied with the Mets. I guess it’s just easier to put the blinders on for some people and ignore the real facts.

        Totally agree.

I am VERY happy with what this team has done since being 5-13 and so should any other realistic fan. We might have a future after all.

And to cap off the night, Rosenthal is reporting:

Scott Boras, the industry’s most influential agent, is speaking with Reyes about becoming his representative, according to major league sources.

    1. darknova306

Ugh. That would kill the last bit of hope I had that Reyes would remain a Met.

      1. metsfan4decades

Seeing something about one of Reyes’ current agents being a godfather to one of his children. That would be awkward….

Saw a story in ST about how about a half dozen players had walked away from Boras for new agents in the spring. Granted, none of them were high profile, star type players. I believe the article speculated he doesn’t have the same level of effort for those type players.

I know it’s a competition game but I wonder if this really burns the agents who players quit to go running to Boras.

        1. darknova306

Of course he wouldn’t put in the same effort for small time players. His commission is based on the salary they get, so they need to bring back a solid return for him to care.

If Reyes goes to Boras, that’s a slap in the face to the fans. If he really wants to stay…

If this is true, goodbye Jose, and frankly, good riddance.

Boras is vermin and if Jose chooses him, then he is not who I thought he was. His current agent is a human being; again, Jose’s last contract was very fair to both sides, and you know what? Jose and his family still live nicely even though he didn’t wring the last dollar out of the Wilpons.

If he cans his fine present agent for Boras, fit him for a Yankee or Red Sox uniform and good luck Jose.

And as Dark says, of course Boras doesn’t give the lesser players time—Boras is about greed and nothing more.

      1. Dirtysanchez

Agreed. He does his job very well.

Im just so sick and tired of guys wanting mega deals. Like you said King, he got a normal contract the last time around and what did he really have to show for it…injured 09/10 but im sure that didnt stop him from collecting his check…doesnt that mean anything anymore.

Hooking up with Boras will consume more resources from the Mets that they can use to improve the whole team…dont know why Reyes doesnt understand that unless when he says he loves New York and wants to stay in New York…he really means the yankees
