Dang. I don’t like this weekday day games all that much. Think I might miss about 90 minutes of this one mid way through.

The usual suspects, minus Bay in the clean up spot. Here’s hoping they can take the series and start getting back on the road to respectability at home.

Looks like they are going to play. Hopefully the wait is worth it and they get within a game of .500.

    Go Mets :-)

then go beat up on Texas, Detroit and the Stankees. Just to prove a point to Knog.

win today, and I will go conservative and say 5-4 to get back to an even .500.

can’t hit the dugout now, but I do have to say they should fire Terry on the spot.

5th inning, up by 2, with the leading (or close to) SB guy on 1st, and you sac bunt a hitter that has been very productive all year? WTF? Absolutely idiotic move.

and without checking, odds are Beltran gets walked, and they don’t score.

I detest passive, scared, give up BB. Be agressive, push it, make things happen. Not give up outs to get to not particularly good hitters in the lineup.

even though they got 1 run, still a bad play. Go for a bigger inning, with reyes on 2nd (or 3rd) no one out, with turner getting a shot to bring him in too.

I missed that play as I had work going on during the game but…

I just want to know where this book is all managers utilized in situations like this. LOL.

Good news. Wright cleared for baseball activities, so could be back in a few weeks.

Now, if he was only bringing Ike back with him! Poor kid, you just hate to lose them that young…

    1. metsfan4decades

I wasn’t expecting to hear good news on Wright after Ike so 1 out of 2 better than nothing.

He’s on his way to PSL tomorrow to begin. Probably at least 3 weeks if not a little longer until he gets back.

Sandy also reporting Capuano just had a cramp in his side, which they knew about before the game began.

      1. stickguy

Cap should get a cramp before every game.

Not sure why it will take DW 3 weeks to get back in shape. And you gotta figure he is going to be bugging to come back by the end of 1!

once he is playing normally in MiL games, and feeling good and has his timing down, might as well have him with the team.

The way it was explained he’s basically been inactive for a month or better. This is going to be much like Reyes and the thyroid problem, I think. Have to build up stamina and strength again.

          1. hazmet

Dr. Nick said “David you have a long powerful swing and most build your core back up after being inactive for the past month”.

Well, OK, so it wasn’t Dr. Nick but the Mets. They want to make sure, like you observed, he has his strength and stamina back especially with the length of his swing and the torque it puts on his bod.

        2. hazmet

Probably more that we have the next 2 weeks and then week 3 is the all star break so we’ll see him back right after the ASB. Hopefully…..

Sounds like John Maine is hanging up his cleats. His shoulder is just not healthy enough to be a successful ML pitcher, I’m assuming.

He’ll always have the memories of helping the Mets second half of ’06 and the playoff run, the ’07 season and that last game he pitched against the Marlins that year. Adds his name to a long line of one hit hitters in Mets history.

A shame about John, alway’s liked him. At 30 years old it’s never to late to learn a knuckler…just ask RA.

      1. darknova306

I loved John Maine back in 06-07. I always held out hope he would learn a solid secondary pitch that would miss bats and keep his pitch count from jumping up due to foul balls. Oh well.

Random facebook post from my nephew:

Posted a picture of Jack McKeon smoking a cigar in the dugout during the Marlins game this week stating “smoking a cigar on the bench, now that’s a baseball manager.”

random thought that will get lost in the shuffle.

Nice to see the phils get slaughtered tonight! Man, that team and their fans these days make the Yankees and their fans look reasonable, humble and almost likable! They are already making non-refundable deposits on post season, and are only discussing which tweak they need to guarantee the WS (seems to be just a RH bat).

man, I am going to feel a sense of satisfaction when they flame out again, and the fans are all crying in their scrapple.

second random thought (going back to the duda hasn’t shown anything debate).

Mr top prospect Dominick Brown is stinking up the joint again, with a snappy .202 average, while playing regularly. With more ABs this year and last than Duda.

so, if a top 3 prospect in MLB can struggle to adjust, why does it mean that a Met prospect with about 100 Abs is a no talent bust because he hasn’t set the world on fire yet? Especially when he put up better numbers in AAA than brown did!

You really need help with this obsession of yours….

      1. stickguy

Just doing my part to stamp out Philly love where ever I find it.

Well my friend, with Halladay, Lee, and Hamels pitching the way they are, and with Utley already back to producing and with Howard driving in everything, you have a large task ahead of you I am afraid.

They aren’t going away anytime soon.

        2. metsfan4decades

Ha! You know I can get behind this too.
