Post Game: They Will Not Be Denied!!

Yes that is a Pegasus. You honestly would stand a better chance of seeing one of them than what im about to tell you. Ill separate it into two statements just to give each its due merritt:

1) The Mets hit TWO grand slams tonight

2) One of the Mets to hit the grand slam…is JASON BAY!!!

Yeah…I wouldn’t believe it either if someone told me but it happened! Mets pounded the Tigers 14-3 to FINALLY climb above .500 for the first time since April! As usual, Jose Reyes got the party started with a single in the 1st. Willie Harris and Carlos Beltran popped out but Jose advanced on Beltrans. Daniel Murphy doubled to drive Reyes home and Angel followed suit with a double of his own to drive in Murphy. Bay grounded out to finish the inning. R.A. Dickey was awesome the whole night, going 7 innings and giving up two runs on solo shots. Fast forward to the 4th where Josh Thole hit a solo shot to put the Mets ahead 3-0. Jose would triple on the very next pitch and so would Harris to drive in Jose. Beltran would single to move Harris to second and Murph would single to drive in Harris. On a wild pitch, both runners advanced and Angel drew a walk. Then hell froze over Jason Bay hit the grand slam. Duda would end the inning but by the end of that one, Mets were up 7-0.

In what is the most appropriate representation of tonights game, the very next inning started off with a walk to Justin Turner. Thole would strike out but Jose(again) would double to move Turner to 3rd. Willie Harris got hit by the pitch and wouldnt you know it…Carlos Beltran hit the Mets 2ND GRAND SLAM OF THE NIGHT! This put the Mets up 13-0 and pretty much sealed the deal. Mets would score once more in the 8th but what the hell…METS HIT 2 GRAND SLAMS IN ONE GAME!! 36 runs in their last 3 games, 1st grand slam since 2009, second time in team history to hit 2 grand slams in a game, 4 hits for Reyes(another multi-hit game and 15th triple) and last but not least finally over .500 at 40-39.

That and apparently the only way to keep Jose off the base paths is to take him out of the game. hahaha

For once we know how Yankees fans feel and it feels great.

I had a strange thought just now.

How would Bob Murphy had called Bay’s Grand Slam?

I’m sure it would of been classic.

The Mets win in EPIC FASHION.

Oh Baby talk about a coming out party.

Nice win Congrats to the Mets and their fight. It has been a most refreshing and enjoyable year and thats with them being mostly under .500.

I can only imagine how much better can it be if they can play above 500 ball.

Again congrats all around for how the Mets have played this year.

You know my 2 cents is so long as the Mets can stay above .500 we should dust off those MUA Awards.

Terry on the post game was asking how ironic it was that they hadn’t hit a GS in just about 2 years and tonight they hit too. He hesitated a minute and said ‘I didn’t know that’.

Just goes to show you that Terry is not focusing on past failures but rather on winning a ball game each night.

Wish I could see the game

That’s O.K., Rusty. Maybe you’ll hit hit big in Vegas and YOU can buy the team.

ESPN has highlights of Reyes’ career :

In Reyes’ first 1,000 games, he produced 98 triples and 360 steals. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, the only other player in major league history with that many triples and steals in his first 1,000 games was Ty Cobb — 106 triples and 391 steals.

    Holy Grand Salami!!

Reyes is awesome… I’m just going to sit and enjoy this special season for Reyes regardless of what uniform he wears next season.

The one day I go to see the Astros get beat upon, this happens.

I guess I need to go to more Astros games? I hope not. Stadium = sweet. Team = Sour.
