In 2002, then GM of the Montreal Expos Omar Minaya traded a bunch of no names at that time for Bartolo Colon. Considering those bunch of no names happened to be LHP Cliff Lee, SS Brandon Phillips and OF Grady Sizemore alot of people say this was the “trade of the decade”. Bartolo spent some of this afternoon reminding the national audience on FOX why any GM would EVER part with that kind of talent for his arm. He wasnt the 95MPH plus pitcher that he was in 2002 but he didnt need to be to pretty much own the Mets. Dillion Gee to his regard, matched Colon 0 for 0 for 5 innings until the flood gates opened up. Granderson got the party started with a solo home run to break up a 0-0 tie. Texieria would follow with a single up the middle and Arod would follow that with a single of his own. Robinson Cano tripled to score two more runs and Nick Swisher hit a sac fly to drive in Cano to make it 4-0. Nunez would hit a solo homer in the 9th. Mets make some noise in the 9th with 2 runs but it was not enough as the Yankees win 5-2.

Fitting – after losing Jose after the first inning.
Since 2009, I’ve looked at one turning point in the season where you kind of knew it was over.
For me, in 2009 it was when Beltran went down.
In 2010, it was the road trip coming out of the ASB.
In 2011? I’m thinking it might very well be this series.
And yes, I know competing this year was a long shot, but it was a shot just the same.

Jose will be having an MRI tomorrow.
He says it’s nowhere near the pain as the other hamstring issue he previously had. It’s the other leg, not the one he had a problem with.
Said he can walk right now with no pain but it’s sore to the touch.
I guess we’ll know tomorrow if he’ll be going to the DL. I’d have to think yes, no matter what the MRI shows.

well if Jose goes on the DL, it makes no sense to keep Martinez here once Willie returns.
Call up Josh Satin and see what he can do. The Mets have exhausted all their options in AAA and this kid is tearing it up in AA.
