    The usual suspects.
Here’s hoping that IF is a whole lot sharper than last night.

It frighten’s me to no end that the hopes of ending the first half on a postive note rely on Big Poof as we like to call him.  Well actually I call him a Oversized Weak Minded Tomato Can and the Mrs. calls him Big Poof.

Which side of Cybil will show up tonight…

Seems like we always have one pitcher that has to be the whipping boy, might as well be Pelf I guess.

        Go big Pelf.

Whipping Boy seems to imply he is undeserving of criticism.  18 starts made it through 7 a total of 6 times.  After his stellar performance out of the gate to a +15 ERA I don’t know how I could criticise him.  Including going 2 innings and 4.2 innings against the Phils, giving up 4 runs in 5 to ATL, giving up 5 in 6 to the Yankee’s, caving in Texas in the first when Bay couldn’t come up with the play, and folding like a cheap suit in Detroit I don’t know why I’ve soured on him.  Hey he picked up Pagan in the first tonight for a change.  I’ll take consistency for 6 innings from him at this stage instead of perpetual melt downs which is really a sad expectation given he’s a veteran at this point in his career.

            Last 5 starts (28 days)
            3.04 ERA 1.194 WHIP.
He’s had some stinkers but some on here talk about him at Ollie level. Calling someone that I have never met weak minded seems a little too personal for me.

21-40 lifetime against the NL East.  Lost all progress from last year after the untimely loss of his sports psych, but, what pushed me over the edge was having to get call in advice from Blanco, a catcher with another team, to remind him of what he’s capable of is well, weak when you’re in your 5th year in the bigs.  Combined with the speed at which he melts down, oy.  I’ve never vocally disliked a Pitcher like this in my 40 years watching this team.  He has his moments but none when we’ve really needed him to step up against a quality opponent.  I will gladly eat my words should he lead us to an above average post ASB run.

New thread: Just for the record – I used to unfailingly defend Pelf for years watching him get ground balls for double plays that IF would botch in prior years but now I’m done with him until I see some level of reliability.  Right now, he’s a rollicking roller coaster of a starter imo.

    Testing this.
