Yeah, I hate to have to agree with that as when I first read your concerns a couple of weeks ago I thought it was a bit much, not so now. I was considering Kenny Phillips on the Giants who had microfracture surgery and came back and had a respectable season for the G-men. Thinking football tougher than baseball Ike should be OK. Now I’m concerned.
Also another reason I’ve been miffed with Pelf for sitting there on the mound licking himself instead of calling Ike you got it or David you got it. Maybe he did, didn’t look like it to me. Looked more like standing there like a statue until they collided. And man, considering the season we’ve had where would we be with Ike and Wright in the lineup.
Actually most agreed that it was the catchers job there not the pitcher. Pitchers job is to get the hell out of the way. Another example of whipping boy.

You really do like that phrase. Yes, it’s traditionally the catcher’s role but veteran pitchers often take control. Given that was Paulino’s 5th start in his Met career it would have been nice to see Pelf exert some leadership given he’s in his 5th year with the team. And yes, he is a whipping boy at least to the NL east as his record in division sucks. Thereby, he is useless to me until proven otherwise. I’ll be more than glad to be wrong again but as I said recently I’ll settle for 6 innings and only given up a couple of runs out of him like his last start in SF. Oh his best stat’s I believe are against the NL west. Maybe that’s where he belongs if the package is right. I don’t buy into throw out this start and that start out of his last 6 and he’s pitching to a 3.0x ERA. Sorry, can’t do it.
Thanks for proving my point. LOL. No matter what there it is not on Pelfrey. Paulino never played catcher before? He too embarrassed to speak up? It’s not a high school dance where he has to ask a super model out. HIS job was to call out whose ball it was and he did not. Plain and simple. We have enough to blame Pelfrey for without dumping Ike’s injury on him too.

I can’t blame Poof on this one. This was all Thole. Poof sucks on multiple levels, but this was a key example of Thole not being experienced enough to call the shots. Yes, it’s Wright’s team, but it was not his call. Hindsight should have had Thole throwing his mask into Wright’s back…
Paulino was catching that game and while he’s been OK he’s alway’s been considered a bat guy and not a glove guy. And no, I don’t blame Pelf but I do indicate that this play in addition to his 19 game under .500 record against the NL east combined with his hand licking, uniform chewing in Philly after getting lit up has skewed my view over the edge. I used to defend him to no end and this year I’m just done with him. I just don’t believe he will amount to anything useful while he resides in the NL east. Given the opportunity when needed Pelf alway’s seems to come up small. Again, just my opinion. Guy has great stuff but just has pushed my believe in him to nill.

May 10, 2011 bottom of the 4th. Paulino caught that day. Actually, Pelf pitched a good game that game 6.2IP Mets win 4-3. lol.
Again, I fail to see how you can give ANY fault of this to Pelfrey. It’s not his damn job. He should not be speaking up and calling anyone off for if anything it might drown out the guy who’s job it actually is to call him off. Most say that someone did call the ball but neither heard it. Again, not on Pelf.
This is what I am talking about, when we sour on a player we blame him not only for the things we should, like his NL East record, but things we shouldn’t as well like Ike’s injury or the national debt ceiling.

TRS, I see your point on the souring. I will still think the Yipper is best suited as a trade chip, but agreed that give blame where blame is due and no where else. This is not on Pelf, at least this time…

I really can’t disagree with you TRS, I realize it is completely irrational. Then again I hated Craig Swan and he won the ERA crown but got lit up in 2 games I went to as a kid so I couldn’t stand him. It’s that kind of irrationality. I know it wasn’t Pelf’s fault but there certainly is enuff other stuff imo to warrant going sour on him. I just have no confidence when I see his name come up in the rotation. I’ll be happy to be wrong. Hell, maybe it’s the full moon tonight that’s got me going.
- the Mets home plate behind the posts make it difficult to see
- Mets signed Fulmer over slot. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2011/07/mets-agree-to-sign-supplemental-pick-fulmer.html
- this Ike thing is really starting to boggle my mind. I still can’t fathom how getting stepped on has put him is such a predicament.
- Heyman said Beltran would be moved right at the deadline or in waivers. So, he’ll probably be moved in a couple of days.
- NJ and New Hampshire are so nice in the summer. Been up here for the past 2 weeks. When Davey Crockett told them to go to hell and he was going to Texas, never realized his next sentence was “Oh, hey, by the by, they are one in the same, so save me a seat at the Alamo…” Yes, it’s that hot.
- Beato, Izzy and Parnell will soon be Beato and Parnell, as Izzy is going bye bye real soon. Just a feeling.
- MRNJ, your skills are strong.
Just my opinion but the white background in each box for individual comments are much easier to read for me then the background being the same beige color as the post itself.
I am at a disadvantage I guess when viewing the site. My display is 1280×1024 and I am viewing site on a 19 inch LCD so for me at least I have no problems reading the text.
I will talk with the others and see what we can do to make it easy for all to read.
:-) LoL maybe i should of added in the sense that it is hard for me to tell if others at a lowered resolution or display see the site with as little difficulty as I seem to.
Case in point Tx who is having difficulty where i don’t have one.
I witnessed the shooting of Oswald the next morning on live TV and I seem to recollect that someone looking like Pelfrey threw a rock at Ruby and missed him.
