I know the above has been producing, but would you all have ever imagined that this would be the close to everyday lineup this team is putting on the lineup card? yeah, me either.

me neither, but even more shocking is that the fill in gang has been playing better overall than most any time int he last few years. Or so it seems.

Ditto.
Here’s hoping we can tread water just a bit longer. I’m reading Reyes might be back next week. Hopefully Wright the week after. Come the end of July we’ll likely lose Beltran (boo) so we need someone’s bat in the lineup.

Really psyched for this series this weekend. Work ended well today, didn’t kill anybody and just looking forward to kicking some Philly butt for a change. Hell we’re due for a good series against them. LGM!

My work week ended a few hours ago too – but I wouldn’t say well. No matter, as there’s NY Met baseball tonight. I’m almost glad we’re playing the Phillies first. Even though we’re missing Ike/Wright/Reyes, they’re missing Victorino/Palanco/Oswalt. Our guy with the bone bruise is doing better than their guy with the bone bruise. hahaha.
Lucked out as well missing Halladay and Lee this series. Here’s hoping our boys in orange and blue take advantage of that.
Let’s Go RA and Mets!

We should compare work notes sometime. It is getting antsy when you’re customer is the US government. My favorite line of the week from work, “Working with engineer’s is like trying to herd cats”.

hahaha – I hear ya.
Yeah, mood and atmosphere is pretty grim in the work place as a Federal
employee – waiting for the bottom to drop out next month. Looking forward to the distraction of baseball this weekend.

My closest friend through HS and College graduated at the bottom of the class and was forced to accept employment as an engineer with the Government. At the time it was the least attractive, lowest paying engineering job out of College. He was not admitted to Graduate School and had to accept an extremely uninteresting career with the Government. However, as the years past his remuneration changed from being below engineering salaries in private industry to far exceeding private industry salaries and he retired with a pension and medical coverage that does not exist in private industry. Today he’s definitely enjoying the last laugh.

Just reading KRod waived that 17.5 vesting option for ‘compensation’.
Yea, I get the logic b/c it was a sure bet it wasn’t going to vest and this way he can now close out unlimited games, thereby showcasing his talents for free agency but….
just shaking my head that once again the Mets seemed to be at the short end of that stick. I’m sure the Mets would have been more than happy to have kept him through the end of the season without that option. Business, it’s all business.

K-Rod had all the leverage with the Mets and wouldn’t have waived the option as he was the only closer option. With the Brew Crew they’ve got a closer and more importantly Boras wanted the agreement so he can collect a commission next year in getting him a new free agent deal. I know, they just said this on Loudmouths but whatever, it makes sense.

Yeah, I understand the business aspect of it and all. Just saying once again, we seem to come out on the short end of this stick.
At least we got him traded so we’re not looking at 17.5 mil payout.

Yes, it does seem that way.
BTW are you SRT’s alter ego or vice versa?

LOL – SRT and MetsFan4Decades one in the same. Apparently, I’ve got two different Disqus accounts and for whatever reason, it randomly posts as either or here.

I really don’t want to read articles about Beltran wanting to stay:
http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/story/_/id/6773844/new-york-mets-carlos-beltran-want-finish-my-career-here
Way easier to stay cold heart’d and get him traded. My feeling is he never really garnered the fans highest respect because of that contract, and I almost feel guilty about it. It would be really cool to keep him until retierment and show him out with some class, but I don’t see how he would take a small contract to stay especially with the year he is having. Regardless he was a class act and I don’t think the favor was returned.

eh he’s just saying the right things. Both parties know he’s getting traded but if there is any money left after Reyes resigns, I would love to bring him back.
I’d only be willing to give him 1 year guaranteed and he will surely get a multi year deal elsewhere…

That game last night was disappointing, to say the least. One poor inning from RA, that included a couple of hits just out of reach, some really poor defense behind him and their inability to get to Worley early contributed to this lose.
Think they’ve gone just about as far as they can with the replacements.
Wright and Reyes can’t get back soon enough.

so very true.
you would not be having these defensive meltdowns with DW, Ike and Jose on the IF.
