parnell picked a bad day to have a crappy ass outing. but, he certainly throws hard.
and I can’t believe the Mets are so high up in the batting ranks.

The Mets are hitting so well this season that it has forced Citi Field to be categorized as a hitters park this year…

I wonder how much that series against Detroit skewed the numbers…
I must say I’ve been pleasantly surprised with how the offense has been this year. I didn’t expect to get the average that Murph has been putting up or any sort of production that we’ve seen from Turner. Overall the power numbers are not what I would have expected either. Can’t believe that Duda finally hit his first bomb…
And having read the analysis Wanny posted the other day (thanks Wanny) on the CF kid from SF (believe his name is Brown), he seems like a great fit for the team. Him in CF, Bay in Left, Pagan in Right wouldn’t be the worst option (barring Bay going missing or Pagan getting traded, both of which are highly illogical nor highly likely).

I would love to see far less of Bobby Parnell. And the time has come to see less of Justin Turner too.
I’m guessing by the time Gary Brown is ready Bay and Pagan will be in their final seasons as NY Mets.

What is wrong with Turner? Unless you are expecting him to continue to produce all-star numbers. All I am looking for is usable 2B numbers. Take a look for the last 9 games:
.300 BA with .364 OBP.

Compare the last nine games to the entire month of June.
His offense is not strong enough to justify his worse than average defense. Unfortunately, with Tejada in AA we don’t have a better defensive option but at least Murphy’s bat can justify the defensive loss somewhat.

It isn’t June anymore. Did you expect a guy like Turner to never struggle? Since then he has a hit in 14/19 games with 17 hits in his last 11 games. Again, his overall numbers are not sexy at all but it is his first year and he has proved to be a very valuable piece. Do I expect him to be an everyday guy in the future? Most likely not but a RH bench guy on a winning team? Sure.

that’s what i am saying too. I said LESS of Turner, not to have him stoned to death on the pitcher’s mound as part of the opening ceremony to the World Series.

But right now, we don’t want to see less of him is my point. LOL. He has 17 hits in 11 games.

Well dang, are you saying if we got G. Brown from San Fran that he wouldn’t be ready for 3 years? I thought we were stuck with Bay for three more years.
Or maybe you’re hoping after next year if Bay continues to struggle we can somehow trade him.

i thought bay was 2 more years and was figuring brown for 2013 (possibly mid 2012).

Maybe. I thought Bay had a vesting option for that third year out. One that was pretty easy to achieve. I just can’t remember what it actually is.

12:$16M, 13:$16M, 14:$17M club option ($3M buyout)2014 option guaranteed with 600 PAs in 2013 or 500 PAs in both 2012, 2013
Actually if he does not improve those PA are no lock at all.

the recent comments section on the right seems to be pretty slow in updating.

Yeah, that’s a flaw of Disqus. Not much we can do about that as far as I know.

I’m surprised to see how quickly the players have taken to the new philosophy. The Mets rank near the top of the league in OBP, BB%, wOBA and have the 3rd lowest K% in NL.

No doubt a lot of it is philosophy and no Hojo. Much of it is also a change in personnel as well. A healthy Reyes hitting way above his norms, healthy Tron, Murphy and Turner, something to be said for sure.

Surely having Reyes and Beltran healthy has helped. But losing Ike and Wright (especially in the BB%, OBP and wOBA categories) nearly offsets the gains provided by Beltran and Reyes. Especially this year as Ike appeared to be on his way to taking a HUGE step in his development. That’s been by far my biggest disappointment this season. I really think Ike was going to have a monster season.
