According to Tim Brown of Yahoo Sports sources are confirming that Beltran will indeed go to the Giants as expected.
Looks like Beltran is indeed going to SF, according to source. Logistics being worked out.
UPDATE: According to Ken Davidoff
#Mets are expected to get Gary Brown and, most likely, two other players in return for Beltran. #Giants
This is why I don’t do this crap! It now appears that neither Brown nor Sanchez are in the deal and Wheeler is. You know where to check to find these rumors so have at it…. LOL.

Should be very interesting here. Looks like there is a good chance Brown is involved. Is it possible that they could get Brown and Sanchez? That would be a win IMO. I know many are not high on Sanchez but he does have value.

If it’s Brown and Sanchez, then yes, that is a win. How the chips would fall with Cap and such afterwards we can discuss if it happens.

If Sanchez is involved you could see another move of either Pelfrey, Cap or Sanchez.

I think that’s logical.

Moving Pelfrey is overdue. If that happens, who takes his place in the rotation? Santana probably won’t be back until September. Pelfrey needs a change of scenery.

If we’re dealing with the Giants, I’ll be happy about getting Brown back in return.

MLBTR stating Brown + 2 players. I would doubt one of those would be Sanchez.

LOL, I am not reporting this one because it’s Buster. He may have just did this on purpose to cause a shit storm but he is saying it’s Wheeler instead.

Olney is now saying it’s Wheeler instead of Brown. Ah, conflicting reports and chucking crap up against the wall…

Wheeler..hmmm…
I’m reading Wheeler and 2 other players. That seems a little far fetched to me but if it is, you would think it’s b/c it comes with an almost guarantee for Beltran to be signing an extension with the Giants?

If it is Wheeler really I am going to crap in my pants. Not just because it’s a great deal but because I can’t get away from the computer long enough to take a dump.

I am going to be a very happy camper if they can land wheeler.
And as for the extension, just a question, but have Boras’ clients ever signed extensions without going to FA first?

I’m following twitter and Gary Brown is the name most mentioned, some say Wheeler and Brown.

Yeah it’s changing by the minute, now even Sherman who originally reported Brown has confirmed that sources say Wheeler.

Now things are switching to Wheeler being the centerpiece.

Can you imagine both wheeler and brown? In Sandy we trust. And we’ll all love him and then turn like sharks if he doesn’t sign reyes…

Can’t help but think about a young rotation of Niese, Harvey and Wheeler.

It appears to be Wheeler, speedy outfielder Francisco Peguero and Lefty pitcher Eric Surkamp

Would any of those hit the big club? Maybe just Sept. callups and possibilities for next year? I’m not familiar with Peguero or Surkamp.

Both Peguero and Surkamp are in AA right now. I’ll try to write a post about them sometime after this all becomes official. Not sure if you’ll see them in September. September call ups is a whole other issue, but right now the 40-man is close to full, so anybody who’s not on it at the moment is unlikely to come up as things stand right now.

Now Adam Rubin is saying that it might not by Peguero and Surkamp. Those two might have been packaged with Brown and now Wheeler. I really liked the stats I saw for Surkamp. Who knows who it could be at this point.

A lot of giants fans on twitter not happy with Wheeler being included, which would indicate a good trade for the Mets.

any1 concerned that Boras may put a wrench in this?

I think Boras prefers San Francisco, if anything he’s helping things along.

Boras seemed to be on board from the get go as the Giants have $$ to sign beltran after this year

Not it appears as if Wheeler is the only one. So it’s simply Beltran & Cash for Zack Wheeler.

Surkamp is a lefty pitcher with impressive stats so far in his young career. Don’t know anything about him other than that BA includes him in their daily email prospect update. http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/player.cgi?id=surkam001eri
Peguero is a smallish outfielder that probably does not project as more than a 4th outfielder but certainly seems like a quality 2nd or 3rd piece to the deal in the event he develops some pop. Cause for concern is he is 78 BB and over 300ks in his minor league career.
I’d take Wheeler alone before Brown + although 3 prospects gives you a better chance than 1 to come to fruition.
Wheeler has struggled with the BB so far but has big K numbers and is only 21.

I really liked the idea of getting Surkamp, so not getting him is a disappointment, but not getting Peguero is no big loss, plenty of others like him.

Shocked that the Cards would deal Rasmus and junk for Edwin Jackson and junk.
Does not reflect well on LaRussa’s ability to get young players playing well.
I would have loved to have gotten Rasmus for Pelfrey.

I’m psyched. We now have two huge pitching prospects in Wheeler and Harvey. Along with Niese, we could have a very good rotation within a couple years.
