Tonight the Mets offense minus newly former Met Carlos Beltran continued to pound Reds pitching. The leaders tonight? The D brothers, yeah I am changing the rules a little. Daniel Murphy continues to hit going 4/5 with 2 more doubles bringing him up to 28 on the year. David Wright has came back from the DL (got carried away) en fuego, 2 more hits tonight including a 3 run HR and 4 RBI. The the 3rd D is for Duda who was able to hit his 2nd HRof the season on a line drive off of Arroyo. (Also a factor was Jose Reyes who had yet another multi-hit game going 2-5 but does not have a D in his name so he is disqualified. Besides 4D is already a commenter here and that would be awkward to have her name in the title. )
Not to be lost in all of this was the complete game from Whipping Boy Mike. Pelfrey was able to hold the Reds to 2 runs on 7 hits with 0 walks for his 2nd complete game of the season lowering his ERA to 4.56 but 3.80 after his first 4 starts of the year.
Tomorrow the Mets will go for the series sweep at Noon with Chris Capuano toeing the mound vs Homer Bailey. Bailey has looked tough so this one could get interesting. For the preview take a peek here.

Wait! I saw Triple D and was misled. Talk about deceptive advertising.

Yeah, I thought about a different feature image but was afraid I would jinx the winning streak or that my wife would walk in…

You have to hand it to Pelfrey tonight. Great CG win and gave the BP a night off in the process.
On a night I’d thought they’d come out flat, not only did Pelf step it up but the defense did it’s best impression of what they could accomplish without one of their best bats. I was impressed. Too bad the Braves couldn’t cooperate and lose.
I’m not feeling all that confident about Duda’s defense in RF. If he continues to hit, I’m expecting to see him early and if they’re up, a defensive replacement in the later innings such as Pridie.
Still in mourning. A new era comes to an end but a new one begins – as pointed out in a comment on the MLBTR Beltran trade thread:
‘a savvy, successful mets transaction for the future … does alderson have no respect for tradition?’

You can’t let emotion dictate your moves if you are Sandy and I think that is why he was hired. Too much of Omar’s moves were made based on emotion.

Exactly. I think that’s what that MLBTR poster was insinuating somewhat.
Since a Beltran trade was inevitable now that we’re just about out of the race, Sandy got back as good as we could have for him.
I’m impressed. I’ll be even more so if Wheeler actually pans out.
