Mets come back to win against the Padres 5-4. Chris started the night for the Mets and was a bit shaky, going 6 while giving up 4 runs. Mets would fight back to tie the game 2-2 in the 4th with a Hairston double and a Paulino sac fly. Cap would immediately give up the lead in the next inning and the Padres went up 4-2. That score stood up until the 8th inning. Pagan opened the frame with a home run to get the Mets within one. Turner and Wright followed with singles and last nights hero Lucas Duda layed down a perfect sac bunt. The Padres elected to walk Bay to pitch to Evans but Nick executed textbook fundies and hit a sac fly to tie the game. After a walk to Paulino, Ruben Tejada put up a hellova at bat to work a bases loaded walk to put the Mets in front. Jason came in and got a 1-2-3 9th inning for his 299th save and consecutive come from behind wins late…all while losing two very big pieces of the Mets to start the series. They may not have much of a shot to go to the post season but man theres no doubt these guys give it all every night.

Yet another fun game to watch. Even down by 2 runs, I find myself thinking nowadays ‘no problem, they can do this’.
Lately, they always seem to find a way. Even when TC has our clean-up hitter bunting…
299 for Izzy. I’m sure he’s looking forward to that 300th save.

Yeah, I wasn’t too pleased when I saw him doing that. I liked the result though – LOL.
According to TC on the post game, Duda said to him there:
“You want me to bunt?”
TC asks “can you?”
Duda replied “yup.”
TC was impressed with that bunt. He said they tell these kids in the minors just b/c you’re batting cleanup down here, doesn’t mean you will when you get to the show. So you’d better be able to do the little things like bunt and hit and run.
He said obviously, Duda was paying attention.

I think keith would call him a “professional hitter” at this point.

Yeah, I almost spit water thru my nose when I saw that. Yes, the results turned out well, but it’s stuff like that reinforces my belief that we wait out Terry’s contract before we back the armored car up and start throwing years and sacks of cash his way.

As Gary dubbed them: ‘The Little Met Machine that does’.

Truly, this BP we’ve got is not very good at all.
I’m thinking Acosta is out of commission now with that pinky nail ripped off. Wonder who is next on the depth chart down there?

most likely, someone you aren’t going to be happy seeing trot in from the pen!

If only that was Igarashi with that injury.
If I never see him on the mound again in a Met uniform, it will be too soon. He really has got to go.

oconner, thayer and stinson are the candidates already on the 40 man.

O’Conner is a LOOGY, right?
Thayer doesn’t impress me.
With Acosta down, that really only leaves Carrasco who can normally pitch more than one inning.
In short, I wouldn’t mind seeing what Stinson can do.
