Last Night on the Farm – 8/17/11

Season’s winding down.  St Lucie rained out.  Let see how the rest of them fared.

Buffalo 4, Toledo 2

Zach Lutz went 1 for 3 with a double and a run scored.  Josh Satin and Jordanny Valdespin also chipped in a hit a piece.

New Britain 7, Binghamton 3

Brandon Moore got roughed up for six runs on nine hits in just five innings.  Brad Holt did pitch a scoreless frame, though his ERA is still over 5.00.  Reese Havens went 2 for 5 with a double, and Juan Ligares and Matt den Dekker each had a double as well.  Interesting note, Deolis Guerra, who was one of the players the Mets sent to the Twins for Johan Santana, threw three scoreless innings of relief.  However, the fact that he is still in AA and has an ERA nearing 6.00 does not bode well.

Palm Beach @ St Lucie – Rained Out

Asheville 5, Savannah 2

Eric Goeddel was cruising into the sixth, when the Tourists struck for five runs and put the game out of reach.  Blake Forsythe had a solo homer run, Darrell Ceciliani went 2 for 4 with a double, and Aderlin Rodriguez went 1 for 4

Brooklyn 5, Jamestown 2

Javier Rodriguez’ two run triple capped a three run second inning, and Marcos Camarena struck out eight batters in 4.2 innings, but did not qualify for the win.  Jack Leathersitch struck out four in 1.2 innings.  BTW, he claims his nickname is ‘Rocket’, but should his nickname simply be ‘Jack Leathersitch’?

Kingsport 6, Johnson City 0

Juan Urbina was strong, going six shutout innings while surrendering 5 hits and two walks while striking out three.  Camden Maron was 2 for 3 with two RBI, ands Jonathan Clark had two hits.  The real offensive hero, however, was the Cardinals defense, which committed five errors.
