Last Night on the Farm – 8/18/11

Last night, Tim Teufel’s son made easy work of the Bisons, the Cyclones continue their playoff push, and the K-Mets lose a tough one.

Toledo 4, Buffalo 0

The story of the night was Shawn Teufel, who pitched 6 shutout innings against his father’s team, striking out 7 (Why Omar and company didn’t try to draft this kid with the insider knowledge they had about him is anybody’s guess). Jordany Valdespin and Josh Satin both had 2 hits.

Binghamton 8, New Britain 7

Robert Carson gave up 5 runs in 5 innings, but got bailed about by a great offensive effort by the B-Mets. Brahaim Maldonado had 3 hits and Allan Dykstra hit a grand slam. Matt Den Dekker, Reese Havens, and Juan Lagares all had a hit.

Palm Beach 3, St. Lucie 0

Darin Gorski got the touch luck loss after giving up 1 run on 4 hits while striking out 6 in 5 innings. It was just his 2nd loss of the year. Greg Peavey piggybacked for 3 innings, striking out 3 but giving up a 2-run homer. The Lucies had 6 hits and 12 strikeouts. Jefry Marte and Travis Ozga had 2 hits each.

Savannah 3, Greenville 1 (continued from August 13)

After Yohan Almonte pitched the first 5 innings last Saturday, Michael Hebert took over and threw 4 shutout innings, letting up just 1 hit. Darrell Ceciliani, Wilfredo Tovar, and Aderlin Rodriguez all ended up with 2 hits.

Savannah 10, Greenville 5 (game 2)

Yohan Almonte gave up 5 runs in 5 innings, but he also struck out 5 and got the win. The Gnats bats used 13 hits and 5 Greenville errors to score 10 runs. Albert Cordero had 3 hits. Darrell Ceciliani, Wilfredo Tovar, and Blake Forsythe all had 2 hits. Forsythe hit his 7th homer of the year. Aderlin Rodriguez tripled and drove in 2 runs. Rafael Fernandez had 4 RBI’s.

Brooklyn 5, Jamestown 2

Eduardo Aldama only lasted 2.2 innings, but only gave up 1 run while striking out 3. Steve Winnick pitched 3.1 scoreless innings of relief. Tyler Pill and T.J. Chism also had a scoreless inning in relief. Cole Frenzel had 3 hits, including a double and an RBI. Daniel Muno also doubled. Brooklyn is currently tied for the wild card spot.

Johnson City 1, Kingsport 0

This was a tough loss for a K-Mets team in a tight playoff race, especially after Domingo Tapia pitched 6 innings, giving up just an unearned run, striking out 3. Chad Zurcher, Tant Shepherd, and Greg Pron all had 2 hits; Shepherd doubled twice.

I’ll take a shot at it – Mets thought the signing would be too much money?
    LOL….something like that?
