Last night on the farm:
Toledo 6, Buffalo 1
Mark Cohoon got roughed up, only lasting 1.2 innings, giving up 4 runs, but he only has himself to blame after walking 6. Despite a good effort by the bullpen that was too much to overcome for an anemic Bisons offense. Zach Lutz had 2 hits. Josh Satin and Jordany Valdespin each had a hit.
Altoona 5, Binghamton 4
The B-Mets winning streak came to an end after Josh Stinson allowed a 9th inning homerun. Jeurys Familia gave up 4 runs on 7 hits in 5 innings, striking out 4. Brad Holt pitched 2 shutout innings, striking out 1; Holt still isn’t putting together any impressive numbers or any long scoreless streaks out of the pen. Reese Havens was 2-3 with a homerun and 3 runs scored. Juan Lagares was 1-3 with a walk. Some newcomer listed as Reyes, Js in the box score batted leadoff and started at shortstop going 0-1 with a walk and a run scored.
St. Lucie 4, Fort Myers 1
John Church got the start and let up 1 run in 5 innings. Eric Beaulac is back in the St. Lucie bullpen, and scattered 3 hits in 1.1 scoreless innings. Erik Niesen and Jeffrey Kaplan also had scoreless outings. After his three-run homer the previous day, Dock Doyle was 3-3 with an RBI. Pedro Zapata had 2 hits, including a double and an RBI. Cory Vaughn doubled. Gilbert Gomez and Wilmer Flores each had a single and an RBI; Gomez batted 2nd in the lineup in just his 9th game since being promoted out of necessity straight from the GCL; not bad for a 19-year old.
Rome 4, Savannah 3
Taylor Whitenton struck out 7 in 6 innings, but gave up 3 unearned runs on 2 hits and a walk and took the tough luck loss. Wilfredo Tovar had 2 hits for the 4th straight game and for the 6th time in his last 8 games. Catchers Albert Cordero and Brooke Forsythe both had 2 hits as well.
Brooklyn 7, Tri-City 4
Jeffrey Walters gave up 9 hits and 3 unearned runs but go the win. Nick Carr pitched 1.2 scoreless innings out of the bullpen to wrap things up. Tillman Push was 3-4 with a triple and 2 RBI’s. Daniel Muno and Brandon Brown were both 2-4 with a double.
Kingsport 9, Pulaski 3 (5 innings)
Akeel Morris pitched a complete game (technically) and was effectively wild, surrendering 3 runs on 2 hits, walking 6 and striking out 5; his control is nonexistent but his arm is electric. Greg Pron, Julio Concepcion, Chad Zurcher, and Tant Shepherd all had 2 hits. Prom, Shepherd, and Lucas Stewart all drove in 2 runs.

“Reese Havens was 2-3 with a homerun and 3 runs scored.”
Nice to see.

Jose on his way back…
Seems like just about every time I read these, I see Cory Vaughn in the mix. Only saw him once in ST where they brought him over from the back field to come into the game – and promptly hit a HR. I’m amazed this kid manages to play ball every day with the health problems he has.
If only Reese Havens can finally stay healthy….

vaughn will at least have the support of trainers, medical staff, etc. But still does not sound like the easiest thing in the world to play through.

It’s almost Havens time!
