There was plenty of blame to go around in this game.

Of the 4 errors, 2 each belonged to Wright and Reyes so it’s not like it’s a problem with guys playing out of position.

Quality start for Capuano and he deserved better.  As usual though, we leave a truckload on base and don’t score runs until late in the game.

Someone needs to tell me why – with multiple arms in the BP now that it’s Sep – Igariashi was the first guy out.  And even though he got 2 outs once he gave up that first double, everyone watching knew he’d give up that run.  Everyone but TC, that is.  I just don’t understand his fascination with Igarashi.  Not only should he not have started the 8th being down only 2 runs, he should have been pulled after that first double.  Blah.  There is no way Igarashi should be back next year.

Also don’t know why TC’s pitching to Ramirez there in the 9th either.  He took full blame for that, saying he didn’t want Parnell to be in the position of bases loaded and no base to work with.  Said he should be trusting his guys more.  Translation?  Nice to see he’s got his players back but he’s been seeing what we’ve all been seeing from Parnell.  Chances are he walks in a run there with bases loaded.

I know Wright’s error on the first hit set up that inning which didn’t help either.

We just handed the Cubs that game today.

Parnell is a terrible pitcher. He throws an inconsistently located, but really fast, fastball, and an awful slider. He deserves mop-up duty, nothing more. Just brutal to watch. And people can blame the errors all they like, but a pitcher needs to execute. Parnell never has a plan. He’s not a closer. The Mets will pick up their closer candidates this offseaon, unless Sandy is smoking the same stuff Omar did…

Certainly Parnell does not seem to be doing anything to grab the closers job for next year.  But, at least they are finding that out for sure now (and sometimes, you never really can know until you give a guy a shot).

I’m guessing Accosta will get more save ops.  Possibly Beato too, just for the heck of it.

But, they will go out and get some more guys to compete for the job in ST, and probably at least 1 “name brand” guy (nathan gets mentioned a lot).  Then someone totally unexpected will end up getting the job!

That dude from St. Lucie, he is supposed to have legit closer stuff and “tude.  Stinson?  who knows.

Oh, and don’t be surprised to see 3 or more guys filling the role at different points of the season!
