AA right Brandon Moore has been suspended for 50 games for ‘a drug of abuse’ according to Adam Rubin of ESPN.com. Moore was 10-8 with a 4.47 ERA with 42 BB’s and 105 K’s in 133 innings for Double-A Binghamton this season. In 2009 with Short Season A Brooklyn Moore threw the one and only no hitter in team history, even though it was only a seven inning affair and he vomited before the game.

Certainly disappointing any time someone in the organization gets suspended for drugs. I expected Moore to start next season in the Buffalo rotation, as the Mets try to get a AAA rotation that’s completely made up of homegrown players and not just veteran minor leaguers and major league washouts. That’s a little tougher to see without Moore, who is also in line to go to the AFL; I’m not sure if this will effect him going to Arizona.

without knowing the details (like what he was doing), you have to figure some of them just decide to take a calculated risk.
If they are on the fringe (that is, they know they really are not quite good enough to ever make the majors), they may figure they got nothing to lose. Do nothing, and wash out as a career minor league guy. Get away with it, and maybe make the majors. Risk reward!
of course, you get caught, and pretty much guarantee the career MiL part, along with a shorter career (and a stigma). But even then, the slim chance of making the majors could make the risk all worthwhile.

Oh wait, this said “drug of abuse” not performance enhancing. SO scrap my idea there, he was doing recreational stuff. So He was just a double dumbass!
