A Look At The “Potential” 2013 Free Agent Starters

As the season comes to an end the potential 2012 free agent pool of starting pitchers according to MLBTraderumors available this off season leaves much to be desired. The top 3 “potential” free agent names most likely being C.C. Sabathia, Roy Oswalt and C.J. Wilson but of those 3 the one most likely to test free agency would be C.J. Wilson.

The 2013 free agent pool of starting pitchers according to MLBTraderumors though looks to be a bit more promising.

Don’t know what Sandy will do this off season but I can’t see big bucks spent on FA pitchers.  Maybe more of the same chance-type (like we did with Capuano and Young) or maybe even a trade.

But 2013?  I hope they resign RA, if he’s healthy.
Outside of that, just too early to look at this list, who will really be a FA (‘ex. I see the Giants trying to lock up Cain this year), what are needs ar – that type of thing.

Good point 4D. I should of noted that some of these soon to be free agents could be viewed as possible targets in a future trade as they enter their final season.

a few goods ones.  and a lot of crap.

and most of the goods ones probably get locked up before FA.

Just to make sure I am keeping the dates straight, these are guys who will be a FA at the end of the 2012 season, right?

and this is as good a place as any to say, Pelf really, truly, sucks.

I don’t care what he ends up doing in the future, if the Mets cut him loose, I will not shed a tear or ever say “I told you so!”

Nice work.  Just of note their ages cited are their ages now, essentially, so by 2013 I’d cross anybody on the above list at age 29 or above off the list given 35 is no longer the new 30 in this post steroid era and they’ll be another year older.  At least a consideration for any seeking more than a 1-2 year deal.

And lastly, go Big Blue!!! great win today, sticking it to Philly :)
