Epic. Drove myself nuts last night flipping back and forth between ESPN, YES and three games on Gameday (Brewers one included in there).
I read somewhere this morning that most teams who collapsed in Sep in this fashion went ahead and broke it down to start a rebuilding process. One of the rare exceptions was the 2008 Mets (after 2007). Yeah, must have been because we were just missing that one piece, right?
Great night for baseball. Living in Red Sox nation, I am very happy. It’s amazing how most wrote off the entire month of September for baseball saying there were no meaningful games left. Yogi is smiling proudly this morning. The drum beat to change the wild card process was being floated around. Gonna be hard to change the format after that.
The bias in the coverage was pretty incredible. I mostly pay attention to national news and the Braves collapse was an after thought for places like ESPN.

good for them. rare to see one this big, and 2 the same year is shocking.
But, 7-20 for the month (Boston) ain’t gonna get you far!
Now I just hope like hell St. Louis can ride this into a 1st round upset. Because I really, truly hate Philly and want to see them out, and quick.

I disagree. While this type of finish is rare, the new format would guarantee at lest 1 winner take all playoff every year in each league.

I’m not saying they shouldn’t change it, it just may take longer because last night took away any kind of urgency.
I personally would love to see a regional re-alignment and the DH gone, but I don’t think many would be favorable to that.
