There’s really no reason to make too much of this, but Josh Satin has left his winter ball team in Venezuela, Leones del Caracas, to return to the United State. After hitting .323 in the minors this year and collecting five hits in 25 major league at bats in September, Satin has hit just .146 in 14 games this winter. The poor performance is likely the reason for his departure, which may be explained by fatigue after a long season; after Spending September in Queens, Satin totaled over 500 at bats this year. You would prefer that this kind of thing be anticipated before he goes to Venezuela, but if fatigue is the reason, better to rectify it late than never. Satin will be in major league camp next spring with a chance to compete for the 25th spot on the roster. For what it’s worth, despite a .146 average, Satin had an OBP of .407, after walking 17 times and striking out 16 times. Two of his six hits were home runs.

Eh, it might be explained by the fact that he is not good.
He’s Chris Carter and he’s Val Pasucci.

I love the truth in 20 words or less.

The guy has hit every level of the minors, so there’s no reason for him not to hit in the VWL if there wasn’t something wrong.

Or if he is just not very good, as his utterly overmatched performance in the majors during his age 26 debut showed quite vividly.

C’mon Knog. he had 27 PAs in 15 games. You know damned well that is not enough of a sample to mean anything.
and he did not debut in the minors until 23 (he was a missionary, right?) so he had a normal progression. Just got a late start, but he isn’t some ancient career ML.
He did hit his way up the ladder. No true defensive position of course, but he has shown some offensive ability, and should be in the mix for a bench job somewhere (I don’t seem him ever starting, but who knows).

Oh, sorry, i forgot. you’re still made that the G-men came back on the Fish today.
look at the bright side. they can have the infamy of being the only team to go undefeated and winless in the regular season!

Update: the team apparently released Satin because of his lack of hitting and he missed an easy play in left field.
