Just checking in to wish all the readers of The” Real DirtyMets” a happy and healthy Thanksgiving. Let us be thankful for all the things in our life that we hold dear, and
And with that said….. HERE COMES THE INFAMY !!!!!
Mets alumni celebrating a birthday today includes:
G. Herbert Walker, the grandfather of former president George W. Bush would have been 106 today (1905) . Many people might wonder why he is mentioned in a Metcentric blog. Well He was the minority owner of the Mets from ’62-’77. He also held the title of the Executive Vice president of the Mets during that time.
Spot starter/middle reliever from the ’66 season, Bob Friend is 81 (1930)
Mets starting pitcher from ’94-’95, Jason Jacome is 41 (1970). In his two seasons with the Mets, Jacome had a record of 4-7 with a co,bined E.R.A of 4.80.
Sadly on this date, the Mets lost two members of their extended family. Hall of Fame pitcher, ( and one time Mets player/coach) Warren Spahn in 2003, and Coach from the ’77 season, Tom Burgess in 2008.
The New York Mets traded reserve outfielder, Dave Gallagher to the Atlanta Braves for pitcher, Pete Smith on November 24, 1993.
The New York Mets traded catcher/first baseman, Mike Jacobs, along with minor league pitching prospects , pitcher, Yusmiero Petit and third baseman, Grant Psomas to the Florida Marlins for first baseman, Carlos Delgado on November 24, 2005. This was one of Omar Minaya’s best short term trades. Delgado was a monster for the Mets in ’06, and was one of their biggest offensive threat all season long.

Happy Thanksgiving to all my fellow Met fans.
Watching NBC with the Macy’s Day Parade about to start.
The next parade I’d like to be watching in NYC is the Parade of Champions for the WS winning NY Mets. Hey, I can dream…..

Picked up a 12 of Sierra Nevada Celebration Ale and a St. Arnold’s tall boy Christmas Ale. So I’m preparing accordingly.
