Yeah well, it certainly closes the circle which began with Dirty Sanchez’
midnight cab ride in Miami to pick up “some food” and likely cost us a Championship. Finish it off with the our best player in his prime years playing Short and leading off for The Fish.
No matter what the “Rose Colored Glasses Brigade” wants to spew here or on any other blog/site, THIS is one of the 3to5 worst days in Met history.
A Superstar player, in his prime who could have benn locked up years ago
is now a centerpiece of an already we’ll built team in our Division which we
beat us for years. You just don’t replace a player like Reyes whos should just be coming into his prime. Certainly not with a spotty farm system and no money to spend on Vets. Look, lets just be done with things now and move Wright, Pelf and if in any way possible Bay.
As a Met fan since the early/mid 70s, THIS is truely a sad, sad day.
Yes, we all knew it was coming BUT as fans we also have hope.
Now that hopes gone, time to get real and tar the rest of this mess down.
Really in the end what’s the diff b/t 90 losses and 100+ losses???…
In this division for atleast the next couple, three years we’re the 5th best
team and about the 10th best team in the league. There won’t be any playoffs or even August playoff runs….Let alone “Meaningful games in September”. Thanks for that Mr. Madoff, Fred and Jeff….And Omar and
staff who with the assistance of the devil’s triangle of Bernie and the Wilpons
wasn’t talented/smart enough to get us to a title….Just once….Not even once, which would have made the past two and the next few seasons bearable….AT least mostly. Like I( said very early last season, the near future is looking ALOT like the 70s following the ’73 WS loss to The A’s.
Alot of 90,95 and 100 loss seasons. Reyes proved, unlike Wright that was a primetime franchise player. When in the line-up, we win more often than not. When in the line-up, healthly and going good, we win MUCH more often thatn not. And we end up with what? A draft pick? ……. And not even a 1st because of the new rules?… GREAT!…Just Great. Again, Sandy, Mr. Wilpon, for once, just be honest with us……………………………………
are you saying that Jose was a prime time player and Wright wasn’t? That I don’t agree with. Wright has overall produced more in his career, and the last couple times the Mets were playing “big games” (some not too distant Septembers) Wright helped carry the team while Jose was nowhere to be found.
Sniffle sniffle sniffle. To me this is nowhere near one of the darkest days. To me it means the new FO refuses to let bias and fan reactions really them into a bad and practically meaningless deal. Call it rose colored glasses if you want… I know they were better with Reyes but not to the extent of that type of contact for an oft injured leadoff hitter. Time to move on and towards. If some fans take a break for a few years fine. We will welcome them back when this ship gets turned around.

Hey guys. Very sad day. How do the Marlins continue to give Mets fans so much heart ache?
