The market is expensive for even the borderline (cue the Madonna Theme music) type talents here. He’s better than Parnell or Iggy or (insert most Mets BP guys in here), so I’m excited that it is an upgrade. It’s no Krod, but baby steps. Would like to see Francisco and one other for the BP. That would bring it to Francisco, Rauch, one other, Parnell, Beato, Herrera and Acosta. Hmm, maybe 2 more would be better than 1.

Per MLBTR:
Hot on the heels of their agreement with Jon Rauch, the Mets have a multi-player trade in the works, tweets MLB Network’s Jon Heyman. Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports (on Twitter)
describes the deal as a “change of scenery” trade both ways, and says
the Mets are going to receive two players in exchange for one.
Things are heating up boys and girl. Also happy with the Rauch signing, that is a nice pickup.

I think both Bay and Pelf can use a “change of Scenery”. I know this wouldn’t happen but Imagine if the Marlins are forced to move Hanley and the MEts take it on?

He dogged it the entire year last year. If they shove him aside for Pujols and Reyes, he will start moon-walking to first until he gets traded. His poor attitude was known when he was in the sox system as well.

I like it. Pick up a reliever and an outfielder at half the cost of Angel’s arbitration value. Still would like Endy as a fourth outfielder.
Now trade Pelfrey and use the arbitration money saved and apply it to signing Beurle. Not likely, but I’d like that swap.

change of scenery guys on the mets could include pagan or carrasco but it is unlikely carrasco nets two players in return.
word on the internet is that the front office is down on pagan. my guess is that angel is the guy. no one is paying bay and the mets cant afford to trade pelfrey.
lots of internet chatter re: murphy but he certainly does not fit the description.

You hit the nail on the head. I don’t know enough about Rameriz to know how to feel on this. Pagan is probably the better athlete, but has a smaller brain. Torres had moments were he did shine last year, for sure.

dont like rauch at all but considering what we’ve got… anyone will do. assuming cordero and krod are not going to be a met, the next most appealing free agent reliver is probably francisco.

If you look at last years pen, Rauch is probably a upgrade over all except KROD. He can still close by committee and be a good force in the 7th or 8th.

agreed. but that’s not saying much…
re: torres and ramirez. i like ramirez a lot. don’t like torres at all. would probably keep pagan over these two because of the offensive potential of pagan v. torres.
but torres is an excellent defender and he seems to fit what sandy is looking for as a defensive upgrade. but man, if duda has a soph slump, that is going to be one lousy offensive outfield.

Yea right now after the trade this is looking to be the worst OF in the league. I really can’t see them starting Torres, but who the hell knows. Plenty of time left and good to see that Sandy is active and shoring up the pen.

definitely like a pen with rauch, ramirez and francisco better than what we’ve had. along with parnell and acosta — it will at least throw hard.
have to think the mets are going to look for a leadoff hitting CFer. i could see Murphy being moved for that.
i’m with you on torres having to be a 4th OF.

Love it.
You know what I also love (other than a solid IPA)? That there was very little leakage, for lack of a better term, of info on what Sandy was planning. He laid it out and BAM, Emeril style, we just saw him bolster the BP with 3 new arms and switched out the CF. Now that is what I call action.

This is why the loud mouth fans don’t like him. People assume he didn’t attempt to even make a deal with Reyes. In the year he has been around he has demonstrated that he can make the trades and make the tough decisions.

blue jays are one of the teams rumored to be interested in murphy. i’d jump all over a rasmus for murphy deal! but the jays also have raj davis, whom i’d pass on.
