Watching Bobby Valentine shoot Wright in the back with a arrow as he ran down the line alone was enough to make me post this video. LoL

    HAHAHA

Who was that supposed to be sitting at the table in a Cardinal uniform?  Pujols?

wow, if the Marlins sign Pujols and are still in on Buehrle, I don’t know what to think.  You know a tiger doesn’t normally change his stripes.  Loria spending more money on a handful of players this year than he’s spent on all of payroll for the last 9 years just seems crazy.  Opening up a new ball park and counting on increased revenues?  Maybe he ought to have a conversation with the Wilpons.

I see there’s already a pool going to see how long Loria lasts before the next fire sale if they don’t win a championship with this new roster.

I liked Reyes getting stung by a bee and dropping like a sack of taters.

He’s trying to build a fan-base where there is nothing but apathy. The Mets already have an established fan-base. They’re not showing up at the ballpark but they care about the Mets and will return in droves if given a halfway decent ballclub. In Florida you’re dealing with an entirely different situation. Just look at the Rays as an example. If the Mets were as successful as the Rays have been these last few years you couldn’t buy a ticket at Citi. But in Florida they love their Football and Basketball.

OT:  does anyone really believe the tweets that the Mets are the 5th – mystery team – in on Buehrle?  Come on….not likely.  And how sad is it that some Met fans are all excited if they land him.  I like him but it’s not like he’s going to be a pitcher that anchors this staff.  Not at this late stage of his career.

There is an old 80′s song that went “look at all these rumors round me everyday. Just need some time, some time to get away. OH! OH!” They was talking about the Hot Stove Winter Meetings.

More like Cold Stove in Met land.

I’m beginning to wonder if the Mets will make any moves before next year.

Looks like they’ve decided not to sign a FA catcher for next year.  So Thole/Nickeas it is.

I am disappointed now.  I understood limited moves last year (though they really could have tried to go a little harder at filling gaps) but I (naively, it seems) expected them to be bold, aggressive, active, creative, or something good this off season.

Make some trades maybe?  That is still allowed.

Alas, it really does seem they plan to do absolutely bupkis this year too, and just slice as much payroll as possible without a token effort to add some viable ML talent to help them compete.  And no, not talking about gutting the farm, but at least plugging holes to some extent.

I assume they will end up adding 1 (maybe 2) pen arms (reclamation projects?) but guess that will be it.

Thole and Nickeas?  can they at least pretend to give a crap?

maybe I will be surprised  and something unexpected happens, but odds are it won’t.

and again, if you are going to gut and rebuild, do it.  None of this have in/have out crap.

I have to commend you for entering reality. It is fun here.

The Wilpons are holding on for dear life.

It sucks, but it is about 1980 right now, not 1983.

I always have impeccable timing.  They got the pen arms (3!), but swapping challenging CFs is still minor.

but nice to see something happening.

it is also astonishing how much payroll they shed from last year, while still having to walk away from any player that is getting “normal” money.

ollie, slappy, K Rod, beltran, Reyes = what, 65 million?  That is half almost of the opening day payroll gone, and the best they can do is a broken down RP and tendering Pagan and Pelf?  Cap and young bring it up to about $70mill.
