nice to see the mets on the plus side for a change.

if I didn’t read your comment I would of forgot to add the Pagan trade.

Can’t wait to see the marlins under perform expectations again. Hopefully the new stadium clears out fast.

will be interesting to see what happens if they do trade Hanley (and who they get back).  Wonder if that was the plan all along?

if they do trade him, even off a down year (and don’t bring back immediate ML help), the team will not be that radically different.  Beuhle is a solid pitcher, but not an ace of any kind.  And Bell is a reliable closer.  so not going to hurt them, but not really enough to make a huge jump.

Hell, if the Mets had added those 2, would everyone have thought they jumped from 90 losses to 90 wins?

SO, what you are left with is the upgrade from Hanley to Jose (assuming of course Hanley goes).  And over the last few years, is it clear if that is a plus or a minus?  I don’t expect Hanley to have as bad a year again, and Jose isn’t likely to be 1st half Jose for a full season.

Just pondering here.  I just don’t like when people overreact one way or the other to a few moves.

Starting to see people rumbling around Pudges name as a backup.  Surprised I haven’t seen Posada’s name rumbled around.  He showed he had some hits left in the bat end of year and post season and it certainly would stick it some to the Yanks.  If Pudge as a backup rumor why not Posada?  Would prefer a trade for a younger catcher prospect but staying open minded in all things.

Posada was a bad defensive catcher in his prime, and I’m not sure if he could even crouch anymore.

lol, yeah I know.  I think I’m just stunned Pudge is still out there at north of 40 still being serviceable defensively.

There were rumors from the Posada camp that he’d be open to come here.  And the Mets camp promptly dispelled those rumors saying something along the lines of they’re not going in that direction.

Yeah, I heard that too.  And like MetsMagic said even in his prime defense was not exactly his strong suit.  If he had anything left the idea intrigued me from the standpoint of a few hits in the bat still, being able to impart some of his knowledge of how to win in NY, and not to be underrated the ability to flip him at the trading deadline to the AL for maybe a few more minor league mid level pieces to keep building back the farm system.

Well, Yogi Berra was 40 when the Mets brought him in as a player in 1965 so anything is possible.
