I really do not understand how people cannot comprehend both the situation that this team is in top to bottom or understand what it is that the want Alderson to say… The team can’t spend and it’s the GM’s fault. The GM doesn’t say this team can’t have a shot to win and he’s skewered because he didn’t say “yeah, we’re going to suck this year, don’t worry about coming out to the ball park this year…”
Thank the Good Lord for rational sites like this and the gift of bread sodas…
People portray him as being cheap, as if he doesn’t want to spend money. Well, it isn’t his money that he’s spending, and if the people supplying him with funds don’t give him enough, he has to make due with the shoestring budget he’s given.
No baseball executive wants to put Mike Nickeas on their opening day roster. It’s what he has to do given the circumstances created outside of his control.
Outside of the lunatic fringe over on metsblog and that handful of ‘core’ posters on MMO, every other comment I’ve seen across Metsland understands the situation.
Those that don’t get it just plain don’t want to – IMO.
